Just a warning.

I have been totally and utterly scammed after following a link provided by someone posting on a MN thread this morning about Wedding outfits.

I thought I understood all the pointers to potential scamming but was really taken in for a number of reasons.

• I really need an outfit for a Wedding so my guard was down.
• The dress looked attractive and the price was reasonable.
• Delivery was apparently free
• The site indicated that they had a retail shop in an area close to me. Not close enough to drive too, but an area which is known as a really lovely shopping district
• The site contained a very convincing story about how the business had been set up and a plausible argument for the discounts they were offering
• There was only one of these dresses left in my size and the pressure was on to buy.
• I was due out for an appointment so didn’t take the time to check Trustpilot
• Neither stupidly did I see the very small print saying ‘sale’ items could not be returned.

I know, I know, I know, how could I have been so stupid !!

The minute I pressed pay the emails arrived

• I had been charged an extra £4.95 for Insurance
• The order would take 5 - 15 days to be processed, with no information about delivery

I challenged the Insurance charge through their contact form and was basically told ‘tough’

I then replied asking them to cancel the order and am being ignored.

In the hours since I have done some trawling, the very attractive shop front shown on the website, is in real life a Costcutter. The location of their US shop is a Pizza place on a highway. The business does not appear on companies house and their Trustpilot reviews are awful.

My credit card company say they are being inundated by scams like this and that I now need to wait to see what arrives before they can advise whether they will step in.

My only consolation through all this is that I only ordered one dress and that by the time they wrote to me offering an 20% off any additional items I might like to add to the order, I was becoming very suspicious.

So I have been scammed, am feeling stupid and incredibly cross with myself, but I have also learned a very important lesson about who and when I trust in the future when it comes to linked items.

Please don’t call yourself stupid - lots of people are taken in by these scammers, that’s how they make money! Thank you for letting us know, and I hope you get your money refunded.

Oh Lord, I've just had the same thing with a scam company called Aurelle London - lovely linen dress on website, cheap and nasty poly cotton dress delivered. Can't charge back as scammy company have said they'll refund if I send them the crap dress back. To China, at a cost to me of £30.

I never buy clothes on line. This was a one off for an event and I'm ticked off, but it's my own fault for not reading their rubbish reviews. Plus I'm getting ads all over the place for their scummy, scammy, trashy business 😁

I have also ordered an outfit for my elderly mother from Jessica By Bee and it took WEEKS to arrive and when it did the quality and fit are appalling. Very cheap and nasty material with lots of threads hanging off. I have tried to contact them on the support email a number of times and initially I had one response asking me to prove the quality is poor and I have responded a number of times and chased up the return details and had no response whatsoever. I am at a loss as to what to do now to get my refund and return the item.

No, not the same as that was my thread. The names of the companies are slightly different (but doubtless it's the same bunch of scammers setting up multiple companies).

Don't return it! It will cost you a bomb and there's no guarantee they'll receive it as their address might not exist! Your best bet is to ask your bank for advice.

This is a scam. Dress arrived, very poor quality. Customer service, non existent. Just automated replies. States on website, free returns!

A friend has just received a refund for a similar scam from a company called Made by Jessica - don't know if it's the same scammers as OP's example. She claimed via her card provider, but the refund came from the company after the card provider contacted them for a chargeback.

Might be worth a try. I couldn't claim as the company I bought from said they would refund but it would cost me £30+ to send back to China 🤨 and the card company can only claw back if refund not offered.

Hello, I too was taken in by the online photos and bought my elderly mother a dress from this company. They purport to be in York, England when the dress was shipped from China arriving 17 days after order date which I emailed them about. The material is inferior and the stitching - nothing like the photo. When I tried to cancel the order (the emailed reply which I realise is not a real person but AI) said it had already been despatched and had to wait for delivery which was not true. I then received a Royal Mail tracking no. and when I requested return details for a full refund they offered 15% discount to keep the dress or return it (at my cost) to the fake address in the USA.
I would also advise not to purchase anything from this fake website Jessica by Bee. I am now disputing the transaction with my credit card company to see if Mastercard can help me to receive a refund.

Absolutely the same situation with me (your second paragraph). I did make a thread about it. I didn't want to return it, Made By Jessica offered me 30per cent refund which I grudgingly accepted. They had a problem with their returns tech hoping to sort it soon, etc. etc. Then radio silence. It's been about three weeks now. I will try the credit company again but I don't hold out much hope as it's under £100.00.

Oh god, I just ordered a dress from them yesterday! Will it turn up I wonder, or do I just wave bye bye to my £35?

AgentPidge, friend's order was under £100 - the rules have changed so it doesn't need to be above £100 anymore. Worth a try.

I have narrowly escaped being scammed by this site, it would seem!
Several of the maxi dresses looked exactly to my taste and I hovered over the ordering bit, but wanted to check the sizing and the type of fabric used, as PP have said, there is no information given on the site.
I emailed the address given on the site, within a day got this response:
Thanks for your interest in this item. I do not want to provide measurements that have not been confirmed. We are checking the available sizing information so we can provide you with accurate guidance.
And.....silence since. How long does it take to provide a sizing chart and fabric label? I am not holding my breath, I will use it to join the chorus of voices saying do not give this company your money!
