Recommendations for summer trousers - comfortable but not totally scruffy

Can you help me? I’m looking for some summer trousers… somehow I need them to be smart enough for work but comfortable enough to feel relaxed. Dark colours rather than bright. Stretchy but not sweaty. Please save me from mum-leggings.

Some kind of cotton or linen blend maybe?

I’m size 14 but quite large around the hips/bum

Wide leg trousers are great for summer.
But it depends what you're going to wear on your feet, are you allowed sandals if it's for work?

I’m allowed sandals but I don’t have a great pair at the moment. I have always been ok with more of a boot/flare, but struggled with really wide-leg. But I think you are right, that’s what’s needed.

I have some linen blend barrel leg trousers,.from Next and one from Tu. In black. Smart enough to dress up but comfy too.

Do they have a bit of stretch in them? I’ve just been browsing next on your recommendation. I am trying to imagine wearing barrel leg- it’s hard to think of them on anyone who’s not a beautiful 19yo 🤣 but this is clearly showing how far away I have slid from fashion…

They don't have stretch in the fabric, but the waistband is elasticated with tie strings. Nice and airy, I think a viscose/linen mix.

The website suggests they do , but I can't see them in anything other than regular.
