Polynucleotides - not a straight forward recovery!

I’m putting this here as I needed some help when polynucleotides went wrong for me.

I had them done twice, first time immediate swelling, which passed in about 3-4 days. Great! So went for my second! Swelled as before so didn’t panic, until around a week later where my eyes were still very swollen and visible bumps were underneath my skin at the injection sites.

I contacted my practitioner who said lymphatic massage twice per day. Didn’t make any difference and each time I messaged to say what can I do I had a be patient response and quite frankly made to feel like I was being a pain in the arse.

Two weeks passed, little difference and by this point I was feeling really low. Swelling under my eyes and again visible what I’d describe as blebs.

After finding my practitioner little to no help, just making me feel like a nuisance I reached out to another practitioner who was a registered nurse. She was kind, compassionate and i went to visit her and the took the time to look at the area and explained that the polynucleotides are struggling to be absorbed, resulting in an inflammatory response - swelling. She pressed firmly on the polynucleotide threads she could see under the skin to help them break down and become smaller to absorb and showed me how to do the same.

Most of all the took the time to explain to me what had happened. My practitioner was clueless as to what had caused it.

She explained that if I had been unwell recently this could have caused a heightened inflammatory response and that it was likely that my body was refusing to absorb it (although she confirmed it will just slowly) she explained that when there is something foreign in your body your body responds by protecting you and creating a kind of capsule around the foreign body. Therefore it becomes harder and slower to break down. Just the knowledge and reassurance I had from this felt the absolute world to me, and she wouldn’t take any of my money either.

My instructions were to put pressure on the areas I could feel the bumps, not all the time but once or twice a day, do a gentle lymphatic massage in the mornings and evening and also apply the cold glass eye things that you put in the freezer. I’m a month on now and it’s definitely better but not completely gone, I still have some swelling but I think it’s more me and my self consciousness thinking it’s visible to everyone where it’s likely only I notice it. I’m hoping it won’t take too much longer to go back to normal but the reassurance that it will be absorbed has at least calmed me while I wait.

It’s been a month and I’ve not once heard from my practitioner either and hear from this lovely nurse most days asking me how it’s going. I would never have them done again, but if you do, go to a nurse, not a beauty shop. Most are great I’m sure but I think with a nurse you have the medical knowledge to go with it, and maybe also the extra care too. I wouldn’t touch them if you read this are contemplating it. I had it done to reduce the visibility of my wrinkles (I’m 36 and now realise any little wrinkles I had are totally not worth this), and with the swelling I’ve had I just wished them to be visible again to know the swelling is subsiding.

Thank you for posting this, it's good to hear another side to treatments without scaremongering attached
It is a shame that some practitioners, even if they may be good at their job day to day, do not have the clinical knowledge or confidence to deal with it well when things go wrong. I had a similar experience when I had a severe reaction to eyelashes. My practitioner was very highly rated locally but almost ran away!
Hope you are over all this soon
