What to wear to a Cure concert?

My lovely 21 year-old daughter is paying for me to go and see the cure with her next week. I’m very excited and it’s a real treat for me. I would like to dress up a bit to make the most of the occasion, perhaps with a little bit of a nod to the Goth. However, I really don’t want to look like I’m in fancy dress. Any ideas? I know jeans and a hoodie would be practical but that seems a bit boring! Im 59 and on the curvaceous side ie a bit short and fat!

Oh, lucky you!

I’d suggest wearing ‘normal’ gig wear (whatever that might be for you) and focusing the goth concept on smokey eyed make-up.

Cure t-shirt and black jeans

minipoodlemum · 14/06/2026 19:02

I am going to see them a few days after you and am planning to wear a Cure t shirt and skinny black jeans.

intrepidpanda · 14/06/2026 19:28

Black lace dress. Printed tights. Doc or new rock style boots
Have a look at kates clothing for dresses. Attitude clothing for boots

Cure t-shirt and black jeans

Perfect.

Nooo, you don’t wear a band T shirt to the gig unless it’s a really early and obscure one.

Don't be daft.

I have an acquaintance whose full time job seems to be following the cure on tour and black jeans and a cure t shirt is apparently the uniform of choice.

UnderThePressure · 14/06/2026 20:08

I saw them in November 24 and wore a black lace dress, tights and docs.
You need something comfy on your feet if you are standing as you will be for a while!
Have a fabulous time 🖤

The Cure are like Iron Maiden: one of the few bands where it is acceptable to wear a band t-shirt of the band you are going to see. Alternatively a Bauhaus or Siouxsie T-shirt. The older and more obscure the better. Other than that, black or plaid shirt (open of course), black jeans and DMs (black, ox blood is borderline). New Rocks are only for the under 30s.

Also, ear protection (loop are good). The Cure live are incredibly bass heavy. Simon Gallup is a monster. It’s an absolute wall of sound.

mcmuffin22 · 14/06/2026 20:59

I have been to see them a few times. There will be some proper goths there plus many more people in jeans and black t shirt. I would wear a dark coloured dress and DMs or Van high tops.

SquirrelGG · 15/06/2026 05:46

I haven't seen The Cure live since 1980 and 1981, and I can't remember what I wore then. Have a fabulous time OP.

OtterandaRock · 15/06/2026 06:15

Nothing wrong with costume!
Dress up and have fun.
How about a corset style top and black jeans? If you have curves, this will look great.
Leather jacket, black or white camisole, and black jeans?

ETA lightly back comb and spike hair, use silver white crimson and violet makeup, maybe black lipstick.

PrimaniTu · 15/06/2026 06:35

I’m going too. I’m very late 50s. Both Primark and H&M are selling Cure t shirts for around a tenner. The Primark one is nicer.

So, depending on the weather, the concert is outdoors, I’ll either wear the t shirt with a long black tier skirt from Uniqlo or black pleather trousers or black jeans if it’s cold. I’ll have black trainers on my feet and a black cardi. I’m not the slightest bit gothy but I thought black would be a safe bet.

Enjoy the concert Op.

Its OK now
That rule was 20 years ago

BarnacleBeasley · 15/06/2026 21:57

I went to see the Cure about 25 years ago and totally forgot that Cure fans normally dress in quite a specific way. Until I got off the tube dressed in pink, orange and turquoise stripes and noticed all these other people in black and occasional purple... Anyway Robert Smith was wearing an orange shirt so I felt vindicated.

SabrinaThwaite · 15/06/2026 22:07

TBF 2002 was probably the last time I saw them live. Still remember that the champagne bar (cheap but chilled) was way better value than the beer bar (warm tins of Carlsberg).

New rocks are only for under30s? Someone should have told me that when I turned 30 I’d have to stop wearing them!

(now 34 and still wearing the boots I bought at 27!)
