Non-sticky black hair product

Hi, im white (and so. I know nothing about black hair) my 17 yo DS is mixed race. His specialist shampoos are driving me mad!! They leave some greasy/sticky residue in the bath and it is a pain to clean…
Looking at a website, i would say his (gorgeous) curls are 3b/3c
i feel very out of my depth with my fine blonde hair….
His dad keeps his hair super short + no family and no idea about shampoos…
can anyone recommend a range of products (shampoo/leave in conditioner ) that would keep his curls hydrated and bouncy and that would leave my bath clean? No or little smell preferably

I have 3a hair and really like Umberto Giannini products, I don't find that they leave any residue
