I've stopped dyeing my hair and I LOVE it.

I did a thread a while back about how sick I am of dyeing my hair and how I was going to bite the bullet and allow the grey to come through.

I have shortish hair now and it's fantastic. I love it. I feel like a new woman and everyone I meet goes on about it.

I'm not being smug, but rather just trying to give hope to those people who said on the thread they'd love to but were too scared.

I look younger than I did with weirdy coloured hair and I'm salt and pepper. It just looks much better with the rest of my colouring.

i would love to stop but i am old lady grey and would look about 10year older if i did.

southeastastra · 23/06/2008 19:32

what colour were you dyeing it?

pointydog · 23/06/2008 19:47

I just don't want to be white and grey

I was dyeing it brown. Trying to dye it close to what my natural would have been pre grey. I swear it looks much better now. I thought I'd look older and I decided to just put up with looking older but I don't.

I last dyed my hair about 3? 4? months ago, I have given up for now and am just going to see how it turns out. If it looks awful I'll dye it again but tbh I can't be arsed with the faffing any more. Most of my grey is on my crown anyway - from the front you can hardly see any.

Do you have short hair Spidermama? How did you cope with the inbetweeny growing out stage? I am contemplating going for a shorter cut to cut out all the dyed bits, although like you I was only dying it to my natural colour so it doesn't look too bad growing out.

i'm so tempted to leave mine, it's highlighted but that makes it so weak. i have two inches of dark roots and four new grey hairs.

donnie · 23/06/2008 20:05

my natural colour is very dark brown but I have so many whites coming thorugh now that I have been having it coloured for ages - I am too scared to stop!

donnie · 23/06/2008 20:05

also I pull the white ones out which is a Very Bad Thing.

pointydog · 23/06/2008 20:59

If you are able to pull the white hairs out, you are not bad at all. I could not even begin to pull white hairs out and hope for any effect at all other than baldness
