What skincare/makeup have you been complimented when wearing?

I'm looking to revamp my skincare/makeup and after some ideas! I am age 50, combination skin.

Someone complimented on complexion. I was wearing Rimmel Lasting Finish. I'm in my late 50s.
A woman told me I have beautiful eyes yesterday. I only had eyeliner on - Technic (from £1 shop).

i used to buy expensive brands (Lancome, Chanel, etc) but I think you are paying for the packaging.

As you get older I think less is more. I like a good concealer and rate Estee Lauder but use one from No 7 day-to-day.
