How do you package clothes and shoes for posting?

If you sell things online how do you package things for posting, please?
Clothes , shoes & boots for instance, especially if you don’t have the original shoe or boot boxes from when you bought them. I need to thin down what I have & have so much that’s even unworn ( shamed to admit) including footwear with heels that I can’t now wear because of new mobility issues.

Clothes, just parcel bags. Shoes, maybe another cardboard box if I have any around from other packages. Bubble wrap well if not but other boxes are best.

I save packaging from things I order for myself - boxes, padded envelopes, re-sealable bags, bubble wrap - and re-use them for Vinted/ebay sales, but I also have a set of plastic mailing bags which I use if I run out of recycled stuff or it's not the right size. Just google "plastic mailing bags" and get a set with a few different sizes.

The padded envelopes/bubble wrap bags are my favourites, but too expensive to be it worth buying new, so they always come from the recycling pile.

If it's a slightly nicer item - like a silk shirt, say - I wrap it in tissue paper, another bag (clean bag for life will do) and only then do I put it in the final packaging/plastic mailing bag. And I always tape it really, really well with duck tape; whatever the order is.

I've never sold a pair of shoes with the box - I don't think this is expected - but depending on the type of shoe, I might bubble wrap them or add some padding for extra protection.

That might be overkill, but a lot of my reviews mention good packaging so I think it's appreciated!

Good luck OP, it's actually really fun once you get going :)

I use the cat food boxes for clothes, and the M&S plastic carrier bags for shoes. The ones you get from the food hall for 50p. Seal with parcel tape and they're good to go for the post lockers.

Thank you everyone. That’s really helpful.

I buy bulk packs of the plastic self-sealing envelopes - sturdier and more waterproof than paper or card. Inside: Clothes are just folded up neatly. Shoes are wrapped in bubble wrap or put in a shoe box. Cosmetics/skincare/perfume etc: wrapped well in bubble wrap, then put in another bag (and then into the plastic envelope).

Depends what it is. Shoes i always try to box, not necessarily a shoe box but any box of appropriate size, I sold a ball gown which I wrapped in tissue paper before packing but most things just go straight in a jiffy bag.

I save all packaging to recycle, even pulls out the bubble wrap from padded envelope where the address is all over the paper outer.
If I am posting something I wrap in a piece of tissue paper that could be new or clean recycled and then in a plastic envelope/postage bag.
I would try not to use cardboard to keep the postage cost down.
Most items I receive are well packed, but I did receive a new pair of shoes just in the plastic bag, luckily no damage through the postal service.

Clothing - just normal posting bags
shoes - I put in a box.
I asked at our local Clark’s I took a huge bag for life in they were more than happy to offload some to me - apparently lots of people don’t want the box! I also save any useful boxes we get things delivered in too.

I wrap clothing in white tissue paper then double bag in self-seal plastic pouches. Shoes go in their original boxes which are bubble wrapped and self-seal double plastic bagged. If I don’t have the original shoe box I use a saved box and line it with tissue paper before the plastic bags.
