How do people manage wearing a jumpsuit on a night out?

Hi I bought this gorgeous jumpsuit off of vinted brand new with tags and it fits like a dream........but I don't think I can wear it! how on earth do people wear a jumpsuit out, the button at the top of the neck is quite fiddly so I don't think I can take it off easily and if I've had a few drinks it will be even more tricky. sadly I think I might need to relist it 😔

You just practice taking it off! It is a bit weird completely debagging in the loo down to your bra but that’s jumpsuits for you! If the button is fiddly try changing out the loop maybe to something elasticated? You could add an extra loop to what’s already there. Always take a friend to the loo? Don’t drink anything so you never need the loo? 🤣

Can you wear it during the day when sober?!

Okdokeyartichoke · 06/06/2026 06:26

I love jumpsuits!

On one of mine I replaced some buttons with Velcro patches (easy with basic sewing skills or the kind of dry cleaner that offers repairs can do it), on one of them I never do up the top button anyway.

You do need to practice, especially before getting drunk in them, but I now have a great technique where I pull it all down to knee level and knot or tuck the sleeves in together so they’re not trailing on the mucky bathroom floor.

Maybe don't drink so much that you can't undo your own buttons?????

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 06/06/2026 06:35

Practice.

This is why i don't buy jumpsuits, I really like them but once I start drinking I can't stop peeing. Its just not worth the hassle

Itsjustmethatsall · 06/06/2026 06:41

Without seeing the button, it's difficult to suggest an alternative. If it has a loop, maybe you could swap the material loop for a narrow elastic one? Proper buttonhole? Sew the buttonhole shut, sew the button onto the buttonhole side, and use velcro to close it. Alternatively (and there probably will be a few on here) take it to a dressmaker. They'll have ideas too.
Don't give up, it looks lovely.
At least it's not one of those bodysuits that fastened underneath the crotch... Years ago, when I didn't know any better, I wore one for a boozy night out. I never, ever, did it again!

Treetopssofee · 06/06/2026 06:52

I like to wear a light vest under them so I don't have to do "shame wees" sitting on public toilets almost fully naked.

As for the button: what I do with things like that is I put them in my sewing pile for approximately 6 months, then at some point after that I admit to myself that I'm never going to get round to altering it, and at that point I re-list it. It's a good system.

I can't undo one tricky button at the back on the neck while I'm sober let alone after a glass of wine 🤣

remove the button and sew the button hole together or remove the loop, sew or better still stick (with gorilla fabric glue) Velcro to fasten it then if you want for show fix button on top though I personally wouldn’t bother. Shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes

Fair enough!

IDontHateRainbows · 07/06/2026 08:23

Im not a massive jumpsuit fan but the top needs to be easily un doable so I wouldn't but one with a complicated neck.

LittleArithmetics · 07/06/2026 15:35

I have one I can wriggle down without undoing anything. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

bumptybum · 08/06/2026 20:23

There is a whole art in this. Yes to some of the button suggestions but also you need to:
roll up the legs to your thighs. Clamp the legs together so they stay up. Then take the top down to your waist. Then grab the top and the bunched up legs and pull your knickers down.
if you don’t do this, the wide legs will end up in a heap on the floor in any liquid puddles and drops that’s down there and there’s always urine in front of a toilet

Hotdoughnut · 08/06/2026 20:47

I wee with one leg rolled up. No pooing. Simple.
