Nail polish that will last a 1 week beach holiday?

JustAMum90 · 05/06/2026 22:11

Does it exist? I only ever usually get my nails done for holidays/special occasions and usually get acrylic extensions or gel polish. I always feel a bit more put together with freshly done nails, however, I can’t have them at work and have no time to have them done between finishing work and going on holiday 🥲

Not a real world problem, I know, but I’d like to feel nice going on my holiday so I’m on the hunt for a long lasting polish that I can do myself the night before holiday that will survive being in and out of pools/sea for a week 🤞🏼 Does such a thing exist? I have a few Nails Inc ones but they tend to last about 2 days max.

Can’t you just take it with you and top it up if needs be? I’m not sure any will last that long sadly.

BillyBites · 05/06/2026 22:13

Jessica or OPI.
But the trick is to make sure the base coat and prepping is good.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/06/2026 22:15

No. Take the bottle with you.

Joolay · 05/06/2026 22:20

Just get gel

JustAMum90 · 05/06/2026 22:24

@Besidemyselfwithworry @MrsTerryPratchett I absolutely can - I’m just being lazy and hoping there was some holy grail product out there 🤣

@BillyBites thank you!

@Joolay I usually do, I just don’t have time

Get gel done when you get there?

Megifer · 05/06/2026 22:33

Base coat - Rimmel Nail Nurse or Essie
Polish - My Mood or Rimmel 60 second. Sally Hansen also very good
Top coat - Nail Nurse again or My Mood

When putting top coat on take it under the nail slightly.

Mine lasted a week holiday (water parks, theme parks etc), can normally get 2 weeks wear by slightly touching the edges up when needed 😊

How about gel nail wraps? Mine stay on nearly 2 weeks

WhatsitWiggle · 05/06/2026 22:48

Seche Vite top coat - its amazing! You put it on before the polish is dry and it somehow bonds the layers together. Almost looks like gel but you use it over a regular polish and it'll come off with acetone.

Malinia · 05/06/2026 22:52

You need a base coat, two thin coats of your colour, then top coat, and reapply top coat every two days. It will last.

Henriettina · 05/06/2026 22:53

You can get a mani in some airports, which can be a really efficient way to do it (if you know you’ll get there in time). I’ve done it at London City and it worked really well.

Nail wraps. Check out holy gels. You can get a starter kit for about £30. They are brilliant

itslikecakesbutitsnotcakes · 05/06/2026 23:20

What on earth are you doing with your toes that nail polish doesn’t last 2 days?! I run barefoot on the beach every day and my polish last weeks and weeks. Sounds as if you arent doing prep properly.
Clean dry nails to start
Buff
Base coat
Two thin coats of polish. Ensure you cover the top edge of your nail
Top coat.

Any polish is fine. I’ve done this with Chanel, Nails Inc, Essi and OPI and all of them last that long.

JCS1000 · 05/06/2026 23:52

I have BIAB and it lasts a month. In fact the varnish is always intact after a month I just go back because you can see the new growth after that time.

I only ever have normal polish on my toes. The salon I go to uses OPI and, as I always tend to go for the same bright red or bright pink, I now have my own bottles of my favourite red & my favourite pink, make sure I stick to that colour at the salon and then, if a nail does chip whilst I’m away, I can top it up myself.

Hi OP. Try a sticky base coat, very thin color layers & properly capping usually makes difference. Quick-dry glossy top coats also help create a tighter seal against pool/salt water.

I have the very thing for you!
gel nail stickers.

stick onto your nail. Cut the end off as neatly as possible. Cure under a uv lamp for 2 mins. File edge to correct shape. Done.
thats it! Will last 2 weeks easily. They do toe nail shaped ones too, not tried them yet.

i get mine on Amazon as the brand I had from Belgium won’t ship to the uk.
it’s a game changer!

I do not think she means toes
