Anyone fancy a general (summer-themed) lovely clothes chat thread?

Anyone else love thinking about and talking about clothes? Please join in!

Alas, no special occasions to buy something lovely for coming up but it would be great to see other peoples interesting outfits, however classically elegant or outlandish and to chat about nice things we’re enjoying wearing over the summer (I’ve got a new tennis skirt- my first one ever) And to hear about any new brands or styles recently discovered. I favour a very pared down style. That gives me lots of personal joy but I also absolutely love seeing friends and colleagues in much more ‘out there’ looks.

I am off to a conference and then meeting an old work friend for supper in central London tomorrow. Obviously, planning my outfit has been the thought all week second in my mind only to what I will order from the menu. I am going for Poetry petrol blue linen culottes and a cream cashmere short sleeve sweater with cream woven ballet flats and big gold hoop earrings. Still trying to decide between my raffia bag and my navy blue tote. I’ll tie a silk scarf onto either for a bit of very restrained frippery.

Yes! I love thinking about clothes. Its still cold here in Northern Scotland so today it was green canvas barrel leg trousers with a black and cream striped henley shirt and a decorated vintage tweed jacket.

I’m not shopping as I have too many clothes - I’m using a clothes rack in my bedroom to ‘shop’ what I have and having it has made the world of difference to the way I plan outfits, its so much fun.

edited to try to add a link, its not having it though.

The Henley and tweed together sounds lovely. How do you get on with barrel leg trousers? I was suspicious at first but now own three pairs and they feel easy and flattering to wear with a comfy waist.

Anyone else care to join?

Great idea for a thread. I also love thinking about clothes and planning outfits.
All my summery things are pulsing away in the wardrobe whilst I look out at a windblown, rainy landscape though..

I did wear this rather lovely embroidered waistcoat yesterday, with jeans and a shirt. In general I tend to the overdressed, when not in wellies and dog walking coat!

Mango, khaki ankle length wide leg trousers with a COS long shirt, burgundy Dr Marten brogues. For a lazy day ahead.

I’ve just bought a fabulous summer frock which is unlike my usual style (I’m a soft dramatic) - it’s a tiered maxi with shirred waist and slight ruffles round the neck in ‘bright dark blue’ if that not a contradiction. It’s super swishy and looks amazing. Actually now I describe it does sound - and is! - pretty dramatic.

Of course, the weather changed the day I got it so I’ve worn it for about six minutes so far.

This FT article isn’t solely or even primarily about clothes - but I have found it wondrously validating this morning. The joy I take in actual style, and actual beauty, has been gradually slightly squashed by the MN S&B board, so it’s just joyous to read about someone whose tastes align so closely with my own. (I can only imagine the tearing apart if one recommended Lemaire here!)

Also, having dissed Brora for years I’ve been quite interested to discover the Skye collection:

(It’s perhaps not quite my sort of thing, but I’d recommend it to anyone who likes easy, floaty, pretty clothes.)

I’m also in northern Scotland and feeling thoroughly depressed about the weather - my poor summer clothes!

I bought this lovely blouse a few weeks ago, which I had planned to wear with cream/ecru Cos barrel leg jeans and pale tan suede Birkenstock Boston clogs for a fancy lunch with my friend. It pissed rain so the blouse is still unworn:

I’m having to replace almost my entire wardrobe after weight loss and I’m really enjoying shopping. I currently have no idea what my style is, or what I want it to be!

But today it’s a grey jersey maxi, red linen top, sleeveless but wide straps, and a white linen shirt open over the top. Not decided on shoes yet.

I want ALL the linen. And ALL the dresses!

What I can’t find at all is nice skirts. no tiers, no ruffles. Just nice skirts, plain or patterned. Good colours. The right length.

I’ve got graduation next month and a couple of other things, and although I have a dress already I don’t know if it will still fit. So I have a John Lewis session booked for that.

I love clothes and buying clothes!
