Shops who cut with a higher rise and short leg length?

high street prices ideally.

have recently lost a chunk of weight and need new work trousers. Usually I’d get from M&S type places (I don’t wear them loads but need a pair for smarter office days/client meetings).

I am short but not petite - 5 ft 3 but what height I have is in my limbs iyswim. Short waisted hourglass/pear type shape, bit of a lower tummy, big thighs. Size 12 now.

every pair of trousers I have tried on seems to be cutting me in half vertically. I have sized up, same problem only too big around the bum and waist. This is in various shops (M&S, next, tu, John Lewis) and in various styles although mostly wide leg.

I don’t remember having this issue when I was bigger so not sure what is going on. Only thing I can think of is it’s buying a short length but again, have always done so and not had this problem.

anyone got any ideas? I can go up a price bracket if needed (I just don’t want to spend loads on something I have for necessity and so wont wear loads of times)

oh and jeans/casual trousers seem fine. It’s just tailored/smarter ones.

M&S short length are quite long, alternatively buy what fits around the torso and get them professionally altered to fit you

Oliver Bonas! Almost all their styles are cropped and with a high rise (although annoyingly for me, they seem to have brought the rise down a bit. However I'm much taller than you OP). Be warned the sizing is extremely generous.

Cos are great for high waisted, tailored styles. I have several that are a bit cropped on me which might be the right length on you. I tend to buy these second hand as they're expensive.

Ahh thanks - it’s the M&S shirt that just don’t work. I will try Cos - if they fit and they’re a fairly ‘classic’ cut that wont date I’m happy to pay to get them shortened.

i did wonder if it’s just me - when I was bigger I used to get regular length as often as short, I suspect because my arse took up the space….
