Where can I find beautiful summer dresses at a decent price?

I’ve seen these four dresses and love them, but the cheapest is £42 and that’s a lot of money.

I really want a good collection of 4 or 5 beautiful summer dresses that I can wear for work, on holiday, at the weekend etc.

I am a size 18, not too confident about my arms but also I want to stop hiding them just because of silly insecurities.

I’ve got a bit of an apron belly so like to hide that with floaty skirts.

Any recommendations welcome!

Anyone? I prefer thicker straps to thinner, I don’t mind short sleeved either. My boobs are my best point

H&M have some nice dresses and a couple of the patterns are on offer - these ones have sleeves though

Sainsburys sometimes have some good options

dizzydizzydizzy · Yesterday 09:03

For that budget, it’s Primark, supermarkets or Vinted. I’d go Vinted.

Under £40? I’m sure there must be some!

I get Nobody’s Child dresses brand new with tags on Vinted for £10-25 each

LarksAscending · Yesterday 09:21

Uniqlo and M&S might have some for under £40. But tbh £40 is really at the bottom end of prices nowadays… even supermarket dresses are often £30-50.

There are, but not new and good quality. A pint of beer or coffee can cost the best part of £5, so an item if clothing that can be worn many many times should cost significantly more IMO.

£40 new for something swen with structure, pleats etc jersey isn't unreasonable. If you want a bargain, as PP say, go on vinted, there are some absolute steals

samlovesdilys · Yesterday 09:23

Last year I got lovely dresses from H&M and Roman, then topped up with vinted and next sale

ijustlovecoffee · Yesterday 09:24

The four dresses I’ve shown would add up to the best part of £200, not all of us can spend that on clothes, which is why I asked for help.

I’ve had some nice ones from Blue Vanilla at New Look, and New Look own brand. Only one was under £40 though, think that was £26.

Got a lovely cotton shirt dress from Matalan (of all places) for £30 but it’s gone out of stock so I won’t bother linking. Also a viscose one which was £24 and more ‘summer work’ than summer casual.

My point is, they are out there. Agree with PP that Vinted is a better bet for nicer brands under your budget.

I’m not too bothered by 100% pure cotton etc

Vinted. Filter by size, colour and see what takes your fancy.

mumonthehill · Yesterday 09:43

I think H snd M do good summer dresses and definitely worth a look. Also not for now but look in the Cos sale as theirs are also good but expensive if not in the sale. Sainsburys often have a gem so worth looking. Also Next clearance.

Look on Boohoo. Loads of styles; loads of polyester 🤣 but some cotton among it for a more comfortable option in hot weather. About mid £20s range. Lots in the sale atm.

Fast fashion so not for me but if price is your main driver it shouldn’t be discounted.

New Look have a lovely array of dresses and if you register, you get a good discount as well.

Also, the next website has a clearance section so you may find something there as well.
