I’ve had a haircut and I need help

I went to a newly recommended hairdresser earlier in the week. I had a couple of inches cut off which I wanted and some extra layers. I had a layer at the bottom of my hair (hopefully describing this ok) but I found it difficult to style and often when I tried I looked like a butternut squash. All flat at the top and then out and round at the bottom.

I have washed my hair today. I have tried to style it. This is what I am seeing. Is this proper layers as I don’t think they are? I don’t know what to think.

When I do brush it back a bit it does seem to sit a bit nicer.

It’s fine apart from a blunt layer at an angle at the front. Have you tried making it messier for an improvement? Alternatively return and ask them to make right

Just seen your next two photos. No, that’s not right. It’s not awful but I would be returning - you’re not happy and she’s not done a good job.

Thanks. I will phone them. I don’t want that person doing my hair again. They’ve had a chance. I don’t know what to ask for or just leave it to grow out a bit and may be soften.
