right will be 26wks preg when going and dress code is "day dress with hat", also says "trouser suits ok"

now have bought this and am hunting white linen trousers to wear with it - need 34in leg if anyone has found any?

then going to wear black hat, strappy black heals and a black wrap (if warm) or a cream swing coat if raining

am I well off the mark or will I get pass the security at Buck Palace?

If you wanted a day dress, then this is lovely.

Having never attended a royal kneesup, I don't know if the top is in keeping with the dress code or not, but you'd get more wear from it, if that's a consideration.

I was once at Royal Garden Party and pass on this advice - DO NOT WEAR HEELS - You will be walking about on grass. I sank in four inches with every step. Go for high wedges or similar.

Top looks lovely - have a great day.

Or maybe this

dizzydixies · 22/06/2008 23:11

M&S have white linen trousers

dizzydixies · 22/06/2008 23:13

here

controlfreakyagain · 22/06/2008 23:14

the top is nice.... but a dress would be more appropriate.... that top and trousers are not a trouser suit as per dress code...

TooFlatToFeed · 22/06/2008 23:15

I think its not 'dressy' enough.

dizzydixies · 22/06/2008 23:16

this?

dizzydixies · 22/06/2008 23:17

another dress but full length?

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/06/2008 23:18

Agree - DO NOT WEAR HEELS. You will sink.

I don't think it matters particularly what you wear, as long as you look presentable. I saw someone in flip flops last year and someone else in a dress that barely covered their tits and arse.

What day are you going? Think I am going on the 8th.

controlfreakyagain · 22/06/2008 23:19

that black next one was good...

twinklytoes · 22/06/2008 23:30

heated - am too tall for those dresses, choco one would sit way above my knee and have already ordered and returned the maxi dress as it wasn't long enough.

dizzy - m&s trousers think are too short but thanks. dress is lovely shame I don't have that budget.

mrsschad - guess I'll need to buy new shoes then - we're going on the 15th. aiming to drive in and park on the mall. I've done some google images and found outfits not so different.

the pic doesn't do the blouse justice - it is very dressy, shame I bought it before it was reduced.

I have been to a Garden Party and people were dressed in all sorts of outfits. There were ladies in synthetic garments they'd preserved at the back of their wardrobes since a family wedding in nineteen oatcake; girlies in wee skimpy strappy items and no tights (for some reason I think this was a dreadful faux pas); and everything else in between.

I agree re the heels - remember you'll be on grass and if it rains it will be squelchy grass. And you'll be standing a lot.

I think you will look very nice in the top you've chosen. A touch on the casual side, but a hat will smarten it up.

probablyaslytherin · 22/06/2008 23:36

Sorry, xpost. If it is dressy, that's great

Heated · 23/06/2008 09:33

33in white linen trousers here, would they be long enough?

Scootergrrrl · 23/06/2008 09:36

Definitely no heels - your DH will spend the whole time leverig you out of the grass! - but the rest looks fine to me. When we went it was like probably said - a bit of everything!

Heated · 23/06/2008 09:42

If you were feeling rich

Trousers 32.5inch

twinklytoes · 23/06/2008 13:32

Heated - thanks for that. Isn't that dress gorgeous. Think I'll have to go with the funmum ones. Thanks for looking.
