Can leggings ever be OK?

I'm 53 and am going to a festival this summer. My legs need some extra support so I'd really like to invest in some compression leggings but can they ever look stylish?! I'm really not into the 'white stuff' tunics over leggings, I think it's too dated for me. But how how else could I style leggings? Must I keep them hidden under a maxi skirt? !

I wear them under dresses often as can’t be bothered with tights, ideal for festivals as you can slip them on late in the day as you get colder

Just one thing of note, leggings rarely look ok with your bum showing, and unless they are very good quality they often go slightly see through, whatever you wear make sure it covers your bum and to be honest, unless you are slim, covers by a long way

Lululemon leggings in my late 50’s wear them all the time with trainers

Why does it matter what the people of Mumsnet think? I personally really don't see the issue, I wear leggings all the time, festival or no. They're comfy and practical and allow me to run around after my toddler without overheating in thick, stiff denim.

If you feel a bit self conscious, or are worried your pants will show through, I'd wear a longer top that covers your bum.

@SillyPiccalilliif you read my post I'm asking for ideas how to style them. I'm not worried about what people think at my age but wanted some inspiration. Afterall, isn't that what this board for?!

Can I ask why your GP recommends compression socks? Ive never even heard of compression leggings and only heard of socks for after surgery or on long haul flights if at risk of dvt! In terms of wearing leggings though, I wear them instead of tights with short dresses.

So the GP mentioned them in response to both my children feeling dizzy on and off. And also for me with my BP spiking. Said it would help blood flow especially when on feet a lot - both children go theatre and are stood a lot. It was in combination with low iron as well. She basically told us all to get the socks and a BP machine for the house.
