Please recommend me two or three cool to wear day time summer dresses. I am 5’11’ apple shaped and a size 18 to 22 depending on brand.

Thanks the Wallis dresses are my favourite will
check if they are a decent length on me.

Anymore dresses cool to wear, a decent length on someone tall but maybe not quite as billowy/tent like.

If you're willing to spend, I love Nobody's Child for summer dresses. Admittedly I've only had two, but they were both cotton and both true to size at about a size 20. I've got my eye on that orange broderie Anglais dress.

Long Tall Sally have lovely summer dresses. I get all mine from there as at 5'7" I find a lot of regular dresses are short in the body.
Available through Next as well as online from LTS.

@Yellowpapersun I find the quality of LTS has really gone down hill since the take over and at my height I feel the waists on the dresses are all too high and or styles emphasise my tummy.

@FunMustard thanks I love some of the styles of dress and find the length good but last year I had a massive try on and I found the sizing to be on the small side and much left in the larger sizes 20 or 22.

@NoodBanaan I find the chapelle dress too high waisted even in tall which emphasises my tummy. I recently also tried on a full style of dress in Seasalt in a pale blue/green gauze or similar it was only available in regular but on me it ended up knee length which looked too short and ruined the look.

Ah, that's a shame. I bought one as a maternity and nursing dress so thought it would be ok for apple shaped, but to be fair high waist is better for maternity and I have a relatively small bust so the waist is quite low on me.

I guess skirts are out due to emphasising waist? Dresses seem to be difficult for you. Would a cotton or linen pair of dungarees or dungarees dress work?

Love this one (not a colour I can wear but it’s fab)

Thank you @nagnagnag absolutely love that M&S sage dress just ordered off it and just hope it fits. Just what I wanted understated, practical, not revealing too much boobs, under arms or legs. Just hope it looks flattering on and the material is cool to wear (it has good reviews so hopeful). Also found a couple of Nobodys child dresses on M&S site so will also try those in a size up.

Thanks all.

Go on Vinted and look at Cos linen dresses. There are so many really lovely shirt dresses.

ikeepforgetting · Today 10:07

Where are all the sleeves this year though?! I need same, but with short to elbow length sleeves and it is properly impossible to find, worst year for sleeves I can remember!

Peterdottir · Today 10:41

Hi OP. Have you tried Next Tall? I haven't looked on there for ages as I'm not working atm so not buying any new clothes but got 2 maxi dresses from there last year.

Would these button through linen dresses from Woolovers be short on you? I recently bought three when they were reduced in price and there was a 20% off everything offer for the first May bank holiday weekend.

I've been living in them in the hot weather. I hadn't realised how much cooler a loose linen dress felt compared to cotton jersey.

edited because I forgot to include the link.
