What are you wearing to the office on warm days?

It's a warm day again today (29 degrees where I am). Weekend was fine as I wore summer dresses and similar but today I have to go into the office where the dress code is smart and I'm not sure what to wear!

What are you all wearing to work today?

Does your office have aircon? And do they relax their dress policy in hot weather?
I am wearing a long cotton fatface skirt, linen short sleeved blouse and black wedge sandals, or might wear my button through shirt dress (again, natural fabric) and hoping for the best!
I would normally be working from home but have a client visit today, its going to be hot, their meeting room is on a mezzanine in an old farm building so I am not looking forward to that! I hope you manage to find something confortable!

I have a few short-sleeved linen blend or cotton shirt dresses (black and navy) which are cool and look smart and are my hot office day outfits. I take the original fabric belt off and add a proper belt. Tan belt with tan sandals, or black and black.

I wear cotton long leg ‘cycling shorts’ type knickers and feel nice and cool all day.

I also have a fab short sleeve linen-blend jumpsuit, from Asda of all places, which works when, again, I smarten up the belt.

My dresses are like these: switching the belt makes a world of difference.

Today, sleeveless fit&flare maxi dress in heavy linen that doesn't crease. Navy with splashy yellow & white abstract flowers on.

Open-toe block heel sandals. New pedicure.

TheyGrewUp · Yesterday 06:37

It's predicted to be 34/35 here today. Fortunately, my office is not formal.

I have just got out a tiered, short sleeve, navy linen mix dress. Birkie style sandals.

Noting my office is in a 60s building, no air con and a lot of glass. I'll be in by 7.15 and away by 4.

MaryBennetsGlasses · Yesterday 06:38

Wide-legged cotton trousers and a white cotton seersucker blouse (looks good when a little crumpled from the heat) with flat open -toed sandals

Chocolattcoffeecup · Yesterday 06:43

My office does have aircon so it shouldn't be too hot inside but I'm also thinking of the journey to work (train and some walking). I don't know if the dress policy is relaxed but it's not the kind of place where anyone would say anything. It's more that I work with students so need to look somewhat smart then again I'm also happy to tell them they don't need to wear a jacket on day like this.

I was thinking a black maxi dress I have but not sure about shoes as open toed doesn't feel quite right for me but my usual black leather shoes don't seem right either.

I'm also on my period today so a dress seems quite comfortable!

Patterned thin cotton shirt dress, belt and loafers for me today.

I work in a beautiful Victorian building with huge single glazed windows and high ceilings. I wear thermals under my outfits and freeze all winter but it’s gloriously cool when we have weather like this!

ritala · Yesterday 07:20

I’m also on period and am wearing a black maxi dress (I actually think it’s a trapeze dress) and adidas gazelles. I work in corporate and I think it’s a ‘no open toe’ approach but most people wear trainers, so trainers it is… not ideal. Will have another look at footwear in the office today (this is my second summer in this job).

Predicted 33C at work. Wearing blooming thick polyester tunic same as every day. Oh and compression tights. And no aircon. Apparently shorts are allowed (with these tights, I don't think so) but am hoping to get away with lightweight chinos.

I have a boat neck sleeveless top on and some floaty cotton trousers

RhosynCymru · Yesterday 08:23

My “office” is a variety of fitness venues so usual gym gear all year round. Sports bras are not that comfortable in the heat!

Bananadramatic · Yesterday 08:26

I am wearing a white cotton shirt, sleeves rolled up, and a linen midi pencil skirt (lined) that magically doesn't seem to crinkle. Tan and gold sandals. Hair in a chignon.

I tend to err on the side of formal dressing anyway as am senior, but air conditioning should be full blast so am keen not to shiver when am in the office.

Thingamebobwotsit · Yesterday 08:31

Depends how smart your office is. For a reasonable mid point, I tend to wear shirt dresses, or sleeveless plain cut dress with a blazer on hand for more formal moments. I also layer - air con can be freezing so keeping a short smart cardigan or blazer to hand often helps, while being able to ditch it as soon as I step outside.

Equally everything is linen or cotton in this heat.

Frills and tiers don't suit me, and I hate extra fabric on hot days.

BigBrownBoogyingBear · Yesterday 08:39

Wide leg trousers and a sleeveless top. I wore a skirt once and everyone commented on it multiple times - never again!

My office is casual though - so men can wear tshirts, jeans are fine, no one cares if they can see my shoulders etc

OhMyGiddyAunt · Yesterday 09:09

A very slightly above the knee linen skirt, a "nice" tshirt and Birkies.

We don't have to be too formal this week thankfully

noramoo · Yesterday 09:28

My office is smart and most women here are in knee length, short sleeved smart summer dresses today. I wore sandals to the office then changed into ballet pumps on arrival. My dress is from Boden.

owlpassport · Yesterday 09:49

Black linen sleeveless top and black linen wide leg trousers, with burgundy Adidas Japans. Being covered keeps me cooler than a dress. My office is smart casual, not corporate. No air con, 100+ year old stone building with big windows... I'll stay inside all day too, going out at lunch is a mistake cos you just end up sweaty.

Comefromaway · Yesterday 10:02

We've got aircon so I am actually slightly regretting my choice. I'm wearing black linen shorts, a belt, white t shirt and I have a black blazer with me.

... Helpful!

Purplecatshopaholic · Yesterday 10:47

A succession of linen dresses of various lengths. Generally with sandals. Might chuck a little cropped cardigan in my bag in case the aircon is on full blast.

Ooh that sounds lovely @Meadowfinch

WonderWeeksArentReal · Yesterday 11:10

I hate anything with a waistband when its really hot, so I've got a few fairly plain black and navy dresses in various midi to maxi styles. Shirt dresses are good. Then sandals, smart flats or smart trainers if dress code allows.

Agree with pp that an emergency jacket/cardi is useful for when someone cranks up the air con to max!

beadystar · Yesterday 11:53

We’re not full corporate in dress. I don’t have lots of ‘summer office’ wear so I thought this week I’d do pale cotton trousers and a raw silk or a linen shirt, with loafers as I think toes in office is wrong, and will probably take a light jacket.
