Cotton trousers making a swooshing noise?

F&F Pure Cotton Poplin Wide Leg Trousers in Pink

So, I bought these and they look cute but they are so noisy! They seem to swoosh together when walking and I'm paranoid that the sound of me arrives everywhere before I do!

I have washed them but they don't seem to have softened or whatever it is that's making them swoosh?

Could it be a coating of some sort? They say they're 100% cotton but who knows?

Grateful for any suggestions.

Yes thats poplin for you. I have a shirt that does the same if I move my arms

@likelysuspect thank you! I did not realise this was an issue with poplin because I thought cotton was just cotton, if that makes sense! I will not wrack my brains trying to fix a problem that is not fixable and will not purchase poplin, in future!
