asking for some help from all you style geniuses! Im about to start work at a new company and have been invited to their annual ball. The theme is “summer ball with a flourish of masquerade” (hope thats not too outing!! And that is literally all the guidance i have! Now i can find myself a mask or something from amazon but i cant work out what to wear.
Usually i favour jumpsuits over dresses (but could do either) but everything i own is either velvet (too hot!) or a bit too bright and patterned for a formal event at a new workplace! Well its in a hotel not the office but this is the first time im meeting anyone and i dont want to stand out too much!
Ive googled and am struggling to find the right balance between formal, comfortable and mot too hot. Would love to avoid polyester if i can - viscose is fine. And budget wise as cheap as possible- less than £50 if can get away with it. Very open to vinted or any brands.
I know im asking a lot but any ideas?

Jumpsuits are pretty out of fashion in many ways and surely not ok for this event. Masquerade means a bit ott surely? It’s a ball, not a pub disco. So I’d go long and channel the French court. Well - fitted top and gathered skirt.

Vintage (or just at least before the most recent hideous takeover) Ghost might work. You can probably pick something up on eBay or Vinted, viscose, flowy, can be dramatic depending on the style you go for. Personally, I love Ghost and wouldn’t mind going my over budget because I know I’d always wear more than once, but you could always rent if you thought you wouldn’t….

Masquerade Balls seem to be really popular this year.

Dresses with an evening wear look to them seem to be what people are wearing, plus a mask, if you wish.

I would wear a dress rather than a jumpsuit.
