WAG in tasteful wedding shock!

I couldn't heolp myself and bought OK for Colleen and Mr Potato Head's wedding pictures.

I was surprised at how lovely they looked and how tasteful (OK the cream silk encrusted pushchair for one of the bridesmaids was a bit Jordan; and the bridesmaids were somewhat Scouse babydoll...). They got married in a stone abbey in Italy with high high plain walls; she wore a VV fashionable pleated ruffly dress by someone whose name escapes me, and he wore a simply cut grey 3 piece suit.

Go Colleen...

I bought it too

Actually, I didn't, DSs dad did 'cos I knew you'd like the pictures'

They strike me as a really lovely, happy couple.

Moomin · 22/06/2008 14:01

and notice how snidey all the tabloids were about it, because they couldn't make a HUGE deal of taking the piss out of it.

It's ok saying that it is outrageous that it cost £5million, but if I was hounded by the media and could fly all my guests out by private jet to somewhere like that then I would. The press were also sniffy because of the lack of 'A listers' and the couple dared to keep it to close family and friends how dare they!

And hats off to the decisions
a) to ask for no wedding presents and instead give donations to children's hospitals and hospices in the north west

b) Colleen put £25K 'behind the counter' at her favourite boutique so that her family/friends could buy outfits for the wedding.

fair play to them.

Gobbledigook · 22/06/2008 14:02

I thought she looked lovely too (friend had a copy of OK when I went round last night!).

Wilfsell - the pushchair was actually a wheelchair for her little sister who has Rett's syndrome. It was over the top but I can understand why she did that for her.

Gobbledigook · 22/06/2008 14:03

Oh yes, I thought the donations to charity instead of wedding gifts was a lovely gesture too.

hayley2u · 22/06/2008 14:03

she did us liverpool girls proud

WilfSell · 22/06/2008 14:04

Ah, Gobbledigook, thanks for putting me right. Makes much more sense. Apologies for my judgey judgey nature.

Oh makes em even more human and lovely doesn't it.

I actually like Colleen. I think she is sweet, funny and totally normal - she has vast wealth (even in her own right she is richer than most people will ever be) and is very young but she seems to be very down to earth. She clearly adores her little sister and is not in the least embarrassed about her.
Well done that girl. (And congrats to her dh too - I like him less, but that's another thread)

AttilaTheAntiHun · 22/06/2008 14:09

And I love that she is so excited and clearly enjoys her life. Compare that to posh or Cheryl Cole (even before recent shenanigans) who look permanently hens' bum and over dressed.

Heated · 22/06/2008 14:42

Saw this thread and couldn't resist having a look at her website and agree they both looked lovely.

MrsMuddle · 22/06/2008 14:52

Bought OK for the first time ever so I could have a nosey at the pics, and I thought they all looked so happy. Her dress was SO not my taste, but she looked fabulous in it, and even WR looked quite handsome.

Hope they have a long and happy life together.

YeahBut · 22/06/2008 15:07

Very nice, I thought. Looked like the people that were there were people that really mattered to them, too.

sherbetdipdab · 22/06/2008 15:09

I am dying to see it but can't get OK magazine anywhere!

Buda · 22/06/2008 15:30

I thought they did well too. MUCH more tasteful than Posh and Becks or Jordan or most of the celeb weddings of late.

Really liked the no presents thing too. Although someone else did that a while ago and it backfired I think as people didn't donate - or am i imagining that?

ScoobyDoo · 22/06/2008 15:45

I agree i thought it was all lovely, her dress was stunning & just right, they done well.

Aitch · 22/06/2008 15:47

i just saw the cover photo but i thought she looked great. he looks like an enormous twinkly eyed toddler, but there's not much can be done about that.

is there a photo of the dress online?

cod you could ride round in Jordan's crystal carriage all day with your tail hanging out of window. or in special cod wheelbarrow covered in silk and fripperies

Tutter · 22/06/2008 16:11

marchesa

(dahlings)

Tutter · 22/06/2008 16:12

make-up and hair v good i thought

Gobbledigook · 22/06/2008 16:12

No agree, cod, too frilly for my taste but I liked the top of it, her hair and veil.

she changed as there were two ceremonies

the legal stuff in the morning plus ceremony in the afternoon

er, i think i read

somewhere

WilfSell · 22/06/2008 16:19

tWas frilly, but despite this, very nice. That is, not to my taste exactly but you can't fault her for fashion. And it was interesting as opposed to just bleeding princessy. Also in OK they kindly (heh heh heh, some editor having a laugh) provided lots of comparator pictures of other nasty sleb weddings for us to compare...
