I love an evening bomber

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is it even a nice dress?

I love that dress so much, I’m going to buy it today, even though I have no idea when I will wear it. I think an evening bomber would be perfect. I’ll have to get one of those too. Or there is this, on sale at H&Mhttps://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1266922001.html

TokyoSushi · 21/05/2026 13:18

Not sure, but love the dress!!

KeepYaHeadUp · 21/05/2026 13:20

An oversized jacket / blazer would be a nice contrast - maybe in cream or a shade of blue a bit lighter or darker

Zebracat · 21/05/2026 13:21

Hmm thought my link had not worked, so tried it and the link works but I can now see that the dress needs a jacket with more generous sleeves.

Brideofclover · 21/05/2026 13:23

A white short blazer would be lovely with that and if it’s more casual a cream short cardigan maybe or bolero - definitely not a longline jacket or whatever you choose though as it will detract from the dress rather than enhance it x

Whattinger · 21/05/2026 14:04

Oooh good - consensus, so far, that it's a lovely dress!

I personally don't think i'd pair it with cream as i'm pale

I think maybe contrast - pewter grey? Or perhaps raspberry?

Next dilemma, what shoes? I won't be wearing flip flips as i hate them!

OP posts:
Zebracat · 21/05/2026 23:57

Flip flops are the work of the devil. I think some fairly clumpy sandals, or else something ethereal.

Whattinger · 22/05/2026 00:02

Have you ordered it yet @Zebracat ?
I'm still dithering.
I love the simple yet elegant shape & that colour

But i stll haven't figured out shoes or jacket yet

I really wanted to go and try it on. I went into the city with my Dh and after the ordeal of sitting in a chair while I had a bra fitting, it was obvious that a trip to Zara was not on the cards. I’m torn with colour too. I loved it when I thought it was blue, but they call it grey, a colour that makes me sad. Think I’ll order the pink.

Whattinger · 22/05/2026 15:45

Oh that'a a pity! I tried it on & bought it my local city at lunchtime!!

It's definitely blue, but a duckegg blue. It's a very beautiful colour & the poplin cotton is wonderful.

I went in just to satisfy my curiosity & once i tried it on, that was it, i wasn't leaving without it, especially for the price. It looks & feels far more expensive.

Even though i still have to figure out shoes & jacket i don't care. I love it!

I have this in my basket, it looks so much more expensive

I think a bomber is the wrong shape

Whattinger · 22/05/2026 16:03

@ladyrinths it really does look & feel far more expensive!

What do you think would work with it?

I'm not a fan of blazers (oversized or otherwise) with dresses & would never wear a pashmina..

OP posts:
ladyrinths · 22/05/2026 16:15

I have a shorter jacket, hits at the waist which I think would work but would need to try.

Whattinger · 22/05/2026 16:19

That's what i'm picturing an evening bomber jacket would do.

What style & colour is your jacket? I'm open to inspiration now that i've bought the dress

OP posts:
ladyrinths · 22/05/2026 16:30

It’s an old one sort of like this but less cutouts and straighter hem. I also own this one

ladyrinths · 22/05/2026 16:32

I also have a silky Maje jacket similar to this but black which I think would work.

What to wear over this dress?
ladyrinths · 22/05/2026 16:33

Which bombers have you seen?

Whattinger · 22/05/2026 16:50

Lovely jackets!
I haven't seen the right thing yet but zara has some possible silky ones

I will buy the blue then . Thank you.
