Best replacement for a Smooth Style on fine shoulder-length hair?

My beloved smooth style appears to have died … the dryer bit is working but the ceramic plates won’t heat up. That’s the setting I use most. They don’t make it any more … is the glossi (so much more expensive!) the best alternative or is there a better option? I’ve got fine hair shoulder length with layers and the smooth style is the first thing I’ve ever had that made my hair look decent!
