I have one bad experience after nother after my normal hairdresser couldn't fit me in. Today, i visited a hairdresser who turned out couldn't speak good English. When I went for patch test she has been lost her voice. I showed her photo's and wanted blonde hi lights blended with my natural colour and to cover Grey's. I have come away with darker hair and ashy blonde which looks purple! I actually kind of like the dark, but it wasn't what I asked for and probably too dark for time of year and grey regrowth. I think she put on a toner and said something about it being dark and semi permanent. When she dried it she said it was more violet but would also wash out. I think she said my hair was porous. I could cry. I followed her FB and her work looked really good and she wasn't cheap!

It looks a lot lighter outside but dark inside. Seems such a mix of colours 😭

its likely to be the toner so should go away/tone down once washed a few times (without seeing any pictures thats my best guess) x

I've added a pic but it looks different in did lighting. Close up the ash looks purple.

Don’t hate me but I like it op

youalright · 09/05/2026 21:16

I like it to

WhatWouldDianeLockhartDo · 09/05/2026 21:17

If you aren’t happy, go back and tell her why. However, it’s likely over toned. Wash it tomorrow and the more you wash the less purple it will be. My hairdresser started telling me recently not to wash my hair for a few days after so it can set in and last longer. Do the opposite.

that being said, it looks nice. I do see the purple and I wouldn’t expect that from a professional but it will fade.

Survivingnotthriving24 · 09/05/2026 21:17

Wash it with head and shoulders shampoo and leave it on for 10 minutes, it will strip out some excess toner. It genuinely looks fine though but I can see a hint of purple in one section.

Arcticsway · 09/05/2026 21:21

I love it!
but you don’t, so just wash it afew times and it’ll fade away.

notnowmaud · 09/05/2026 21:29

Oh! I am so disappointed I thought I’d be seeing aubergine coloured hair, and was ready to sympathise with you, and give you lots of platitudes about how it will grow out, but what I’m seeing is a really lovely, natural looking strawberry blonde, and not purple. I honestly think it looks great.

dicentra365 · 09/05/2026 21:31

I like it too - sorry!

Thisisnotmyid · 09/05/2026 21:32

You could try some fairy liquid. Honestly don’t ask me how but it works. I would only recommend it as an emergency think and never on a regular basis.

Safarisagoody · 09/05/2026 21:34

Dont be putting crap on, just wash it a few times with your normal shampoo, I actually like it too, it’s very pretty

CaffeineAndChords · 09/05/2026 21:34

No I have to be honest I’d be upset with that, it looks dull and wishy washy. Go back defo.

atomicnotsoblonde · 09/05/2026 21:35

Honestly I love it. It’s a multi dimensional colour. I think it looks great.,

Summerishere123 · 09/05/2026 21:37

It is the toner and I promise it washes out after a few washes. I have this everytime I get my hair done.

SirChenjins · 09/05/2026 21:39

I can see the purple tone but it looks like the toner which will fade. Could call them on Monday, tell them you're not happy with it but you're prepared to give the toner a week or so to settle, and if it doesn't you'll like them to rectify it?

TheSquareMile · 09/05/2026 21:57

Your hair looks lovely, OP.

I think that the coloured bits catching your eye will fade after just normal hair washing.

It's a great colour for your skin tone.

ThatLilacTiger · 09/05/2026 21:57

I really like that. It does seem to have an awful lot of different tones going on which doesn't bother me but I can see why it could bother you. The actual colour of the lightest bits isn't purple at all though, it's a lovely shimmery ashy blonde.

TheSquareMile · 09/05/2026 21:59

PS I thought that you were going to look like a cross between Mrs Slocombe from Are You Being Served and a 1970s King's Road Punk!

ahlancs · 09/05/2026 21:59

Hairdresser here, realistically, she’d probably only do a bleach wash to remove the toner, and that’s just going to dry your hair out more. I’d try washing it a few times with Head & Shoulders or a clarifying shampoo and leave it on for a few minutes each time. Toners usually fade quite quickly, so by the time it softens she’ll probably have had chance to fit you back in anyway.

That said, you absolutely should have been 100% happy with your hair before leaving the salon, so by all means go back and speak to her. But in my opinion, the purple tone is most likely just an overly cool toner, which is temporary. As long as the hair lifted to the correct level underneath, you’ll probably like it once the harsh cool tone fades a bit.

PyongyangKipperbang · 09/05/2026 22:10

that will fade in a couple of washes and you can always re-tone it yourself, but I suspect you wont need to.

nothingcangowrongnow · 09/05/2026 23:57

That’s lovely!

Verite1 · 10/05/2026 00:09

I think it looks lovely.

I agree. It looks natural. It's a lovely colour.
