What would you pack for Tuscany and Copenhagen in June?

Help me out here!

Imagine it's the second half of June, and you're going to Tuscany (including Florence) for a week, and then on to Copenhagen for a week.

Small backpack and a carry-on only...

What are you buying / packing?

I'm trying to think in terms of outfits but it's just not clicking in my head.

Also really want to make a bit of an effort; I've had an awful year and this is my birthday / cheer-up trip from my partner, so I'd like to feel a bit stylish and special if I can.

5'4, size 10, came out as a light spring in colour analysis so I avoid stark black or white.

Links to items and ideas for outfit formulas very welcome!

Outfit formulas? Crikey what’s that? Is that when someone says you need 3 bottoms, 6 tops a dress and 2 pairs of shoes ?

Are you going straight between the 2 places without going home? Are you self catering or eating out at night ? Anything rural that we need to consider ?

I could probably tell you what I packed to Florence last year because I travelled on hand luggage but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. Have you got any pieces that you think will travel well that could start us off? I had some chocolate brown silk drawstring trousers from Rise & Fall because they don’t take up much space and they were easy to throw on for dinner.

Ha! @Divebar2021 outfit formulas are just outfits that you know work and where you can swap things in and out – so you're not having to make loads of decisions. Like, for example:

Blazer + t-shirt + jeans
Cropped button-down + barrel-leg trousers + trainers
Oversized knit + midi skirt + boots
Band tee + slip skirt + leather jacket + boots

It just helps my brain focus instead of considering ALL possible options for everything!

We've got a couple of nights in Florence, a couple of days on an agriturismo in Chianti, and we'll be doing day trips to little towns and the coast. We'll probably mostly eat out.

Going straight to CPH after Italy without going home, so what I take needs to work for both places.

Not sure on outfit formulas but it’ll be hot and maybe humid. So cotton or linen is good. I’d get a pleats please Issey Miyake midi dress. Mine is very versatile, black, sleeveless.

Well as long as you’re not going anywhere too stylish because that would be a nightmare 😂. Let me think on it… I’m off to Lisbon in August and I’m already thinking of my packing

Divebar2021 · 09/05/2026 19:13

Well I’ve been thinking about this while I was painting today. Everything is going to have to work really hard so separates would probably be good. Keep the colour palette quite tight so 3 colours that you can mix up and maybe an odd vibrant piece like sunglasses or bag in a bright so it’s not too samey. I personally would prefer the Copenhagen element because it’s probably cooler and they’re more androgynous which is my look.

Depending on your taste a dress that you can wear for dinner a couple of times and is not too dressy for a daytime wear sight seeing ( then hand wash ) I like a long t shirt dress but in Venice I was so hot I bought a throw on linen dress. Weirdly all the dresses I was immediately drawn to were green. So add on a city short and a cotton skirt and a short “co ord” and a few t shirts or vests. These are not me particularly but might be you. Honestly I’m not a green freak.

A few dresses, pants, a top, a jumper, underwear and socks. Good shoes. A waterproof jacket.
There are H&M and similar in Copenhagen if you need it.

Divebar2021 · 09/05/2026 19:20

You need a very comfortable walking sandal for town and the country so Teva would be my port of call. At night either a leather slide or I have leather flip flops. This set is more my style. The linen dress would need an over shirt for some churches in Florence. The knee length linen dress works over trousers for Copenhagen although I appreciate the pale colour is impractical. They do a blue shirt dress they’ve styled with a pale leather rope style belt that would actually be really versatile. They also do the short co ord in a blue. ( previous green striped co ord was in blue and white too). Anyway that’s the direction id go in. It’s hard for someone you don’t know. 😂

What will work for Florence highs 29c, lows 16c (likely to be hot/sunny) will definitely not be the same for Copenhagen (highs 20, lows 12 for June)

You’ll need some warm options for Denmark, which could I guess be achieved with layering

Favouritefruits · 09/05/2026 19:24

Denmark can be really cool still in June, I went about three years ago in August and it was freezing! To the point I bought a coat! Tuscany will be warm, not hot so I’m really no help at all! Leggings with T-shirts and hoodies to layer would be the most practical but not very fashionable or holidayish, hopefully someone with a better idea will come along 😂

Divebar2021 · 09/05/2026 19:25

Oops my photos didn’t post. For evenings in
Copanhagen you’ll need another layer. I have a seersucker jacket from Cos with patch pockets because it gets scrunched up and still looks good or maybe a chore jacket?

Navy, or dark blue, mocha, grey bottoms. a few light dressy tops to mix and match each of them. Light and loose drawstring or elastic waist slightly cropped trousers for walking around, with light tops. You'll need that for Tuscany. And good walking trainers or sandals. Two dressy dresses, one loose day one. Done. Cardigan (boxy fit) and/or cropped jacket for evening.

Those are my usual packing items. I don't wear dresses, but you might!
