People of MN, help me dye my brows at home

Lovely people. I need some help. I’ve been made redundant and I’m trying to replace all my salon treatments with stuff I do myself.
So far, dropping the BIAB nails and going short and with clear polish has been a success. Same with toes.

I have terrible sparse brows, I had them micro bladed last year and that still looks very fresh but the hair on top is not.

I’m dark blonde with a bit of grey hair wise.

Where do I start and what do you recommend? I

Just for men beard dye! I got this trick from here. If you look online, they do several shades. So cheap, plus one pack does at least 4 applications. You can't really go wrong (as long as you get the right shade) because any hairs you don't like dyed can just get plucked.

I use refectocil. It's very easy. Use vaseline around the outside of your brow so it doesn't stain the skin (although I don't think it does anyway).

Oh that’s a nice and easy one to find.

I’d never heard of this, looks like another one to try.

Thank you so much x

Just be careful not to keave it on too long, or you will have comically dark eyebrows for a while until it fades.

CharnwoodFire · 09/05/2026 14:05

Just bung some of this on them and wipe off after 10-15 mins :

I use Godefroy (as I was slightly allergic to other brands when I patch tested) between salon trips and then Gimme Brow if desperate. I have a few wiry greys

I use this too, except I've just moved up to the dark brown shade. My natural eyebrows are practically translucent but even so the mid- brown wasn't that dark. I leave the dark brown on for 10 minutes and the result is natural-looking and not too harsh. I've got a little pot of vaseline (it's actually a lip-balm) which I use as a barrier around my brows - I've found it's easiest to put on with a cotton bud.

For nails Manicurist active range. Beautiful polish and strengthens your nails without any nasties

for brows, (this is the GOAT) Schwartzkopf brow tint, dark blonde - v easy to use. Start at 5 minute end of recommended time (they say 5-10) as you test how well your brows take)

I used the dybrow recommended above for the first time this week. I was cautious so I used mid brown on my dark brown brows and left it for 7 minutes. It made little difference but it was so easy to use and I could tell it would work it I left it a bit longer and used a bit more. I'm definitely going to try again.

I get the impression just for men is very similar but you get more/it's cheaper

I actually use dark brown too, but I didn't want to push the OP too far. I don't bother with vaseline/a barrier - I just put it on in the desired shape with the supplied spoolie-brush thing

Another user of Schwartzkopf brow tint, dark blonde (as I’m mousey) which is very easy to use. Totally agree to start at 5 minutes or it can be too dark. In between I touch up with Rimmel Brows This Way.

EleanorMc67 · 09/05/2026 20:46

Does anyone know if the Schwarzkopf brow tint shades in dark blonde & light brown are cool- or warm-toned? I'm strawberry blonde but with darker brownish-blonde to light ash brown roots - & my natural eyebrows (pre the creeping white hairs!!) are similar. I don't want them to be warm blonde/gingery - more taupe.

I currently use Benefit Gimme Brow tinted gel in 02, & either Rimmel or Nyx eyebrow pencils in Hazel/taupe.

GloomyWednesday · 09/05/2026 20:49

Just For Men beards is great for mid to dark brows.

Costs about £7 and I can get at least a dozen applications from one box.

It does develop very quickly so best to be cautious and wipe off after a couple of minutes to make sure.

I use a small brush from another dye to apply it as it only comes with one that’s rather large.

I’ve got your colouring and I use the dark blonde. Whether it’s warm or cool, I couldn’t tell you. I don’t really notice. I’m an artist too so my handle of chroma/ value / tone etc is not bad

bananaboats · 10/05/2026 21:48

I use the just for men Beard dye as well, it lasts me ages! I apply with a very small makeup brush to I can be quite precise with it.

Thanks! I shall pluck up the courage to try it ...
