Is this bad? May return old unworn trousers for smaller size as I’ve lost weight.

I bought a size 10 pairs of trousers from Sezane in Feb and I’m planning on wearing them on holiday in the summer so haven’t worn them and they still have tags attached.
I’ve since lost weight and dropped a dress size. I tried the trousers on last night and they are too big! I’m hoping to keep the weight off as I’m so much happier at my current weight-my stomach is completely flat.
I’ve ordered a size 8 in the trousers (£145 so not cheap). If they fit well would I be found out of if I returned the size 10 using the size 8 return paperwork? Returns must be within 30 days for Sezane I think so I’m too late to return the size 10.

You're likely to be found out because they normally check that the item you are returning matches the receipt. If they are still selling the item your best bet would be to contact them, explain the situation and ask to exchange.

They scan in the return label and then the item otherwise what's to stop people returning any old item against a receipt? If they just chucked stuff back on the shelf their inventory would be way off.

Gah! I thought that might be the case. I’ll try the smaller size then consider contacting Sezane. I don’t think they are known for their generous customer service unfortunately.

I would ring them first and say you want to buy a different pair.

If they’ve never been worn and still have tags etc but just out of the return limit, then they’ll might give you store credit instead of a refund and then you can buy the new pair with it.

Definitely don’t risk returning them as you’ll likely lose both the trousers and money.

I think some shops even have a unique code for each garment (not just size).

Hope you can get a goodwill exchange.
