Summer shoe but not a sandal or trainer

If you don’t like sandals and have enough trainers to open a shop, what would you you buy? I can’t do ballet flats as they are too flat so that rules out most sandals. I am not keen on sandals though. I prefer something closed toe. I’d like something a bit smarter.

What clothes do you like to wear? Colours?
Also how old are you? Possibly not relevant for everyone but I know my taste in my 40’s varies greatly from DD in her 20’s and my MIL in her 80’s etc.

How about a sling back? There are plenty around this season.

I am 55. Usually in the summer it’s an ankle grazer Jean with a t shirt and a blazer. Hadn’t thought about a sling back. Will keep those in mind.

At work I wear loafers without socks, but that's because I hate socks. There are slip-on shoes that have more structure than ballet flats - maybe try Ecco?

Closed toe sandals?
Celtic, Moshulu, Merrell and others (Google) have closed toe styles.

Ineedanewsofa · 05/05/2026 10:33

I am wearing these today, I was bored of trainers and I’m not an open toe in the office girl! My feet are freezing however https://www.asos.com/prd/209728578?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

Ineedanewsofa · 05/05/2026 10:34

Ah just re-read - they are probably too flat

Do you wear orthodics hence the issue that ballets are too flat or you just mean you want a heel?
A leather wedge or those espadrille wedges?

I’m all about the loafer mule this year but trying to find the perfect one is proving tricky!
