Velvet to a late summer wedding

I am going to a country house type wedding at the very end of August.
I bought some wide leg brown velvet trousers and a gold velvet jewelled jacket for a winter wedding last year which suited me.
I don’t like myself in many things mostly due to weight but also my legs are very pale and showing their age (57).
I know I can’t wear the same outfit in the summer but do you think one or the other would be suitable or too heavy?

There was another thread on seasonal velvet just a couple of days ago. Some people felt very strongly it is an autumn winter only thing, others felt it’s weather/temperature dependent, others that they wear it all year round. And pretty much everything inbetween!

For me, I see no reason either of the items wouldn’t be suitable - I like velvet and happy to wear it / see it worn at any point in the year. But if it’s a very warm sunny late August there’s a risk it could feel too heavy and warm. If it’s one of those “basically September / autumn nip in the air” end Augusts, it’d be lovely.

I’d try to get a back up plan in case it’s warm weather. But it depends on you too - would you get too hot in it if it was 26 degrees? Everyone’s different.

Thanks for the reply. I might wear the trousers with something - the jacket would be too much if very warm.
