I’ve been invited to a wedding with an evening only invite. I’m a size 18, hopefully will be a 16 or even a 14 by then

Green 💯

Do we think? I plan on wearing it with gold accessories - some sandals and a clutch

Neither, sorry. If you are pale, the green will make you look mottled. The brown is very dated and not in a cool retro way.

They are both hideous

I’ll be tanning before, plus picking up natural colour from being outside running!

I don't love either of them but the green one is fine. The brown one is way OTT. It's too much for any normal wedding let alone where you are only invited in the evening.

What would you suggest? I’m under 30 so want something a bit fun I can wear again, without breaking the bank

Definitely the green - its not my style but I think it could look really nice with simple accessories

Yours have some really pretty occasion dresses in at the moment and lots in the sale - these two are nice

I really don't like the green / mottled one at all.

I'm old, but at the two weddings I went to last Summer, I was surprised just how many of the 'twenty somethings' were wearing dresses very similar to the brown maxi dress you have linked to. Most of the 'young women' who came to the evening only ad quite a few of the 'all day' friends and cousins were wearing long dresses just like that.

I do also quite like this, but I worry it leans too white

Much nicer. And not too white at all.

nicewarmmess · 28/04/2026 22:57

Well, now I have fallen down a rabbit hole

Out of all of them, I like the Orangy colour one the best.

What's your budget?

These are pretty for a wedding.

Yes it’s really nice isn’t it! It feels like it could be quite versatile too for a holiday.

Absolutely. These are the types of dresses that I take on holiday for the evenings, but they can also be dressed up with gold accessories for a wedding!
