Dress/skirt lengths. Is anyone else fed up with what's available?

Is anybody else fed up that dresses and skirts are either mini, maxi or full length?
I would love to find affordable knee length skirts in plain colours and NOT corduroy to wear with patterned tops. I've got a couple in different colours but they are denim. Surely there are other fabrics. In fact I know that there are other fabrics, why don't designers and manufacturers use them?
I used to make all my own clothes but these days my concentration is lousy and I make daft mistakes.

Maxi is full length.
I hate knee length.

Shorten some?

paddleboardingmum · 28/04/2026 19:37

Completely agree OP. For summer especially so as to be able to get my legs out a bit but without shorts. Don't just want long skirts.

Fairyliz · 28/04/2026 19:40

I agree too op, knee length just seems to suit me better. Long generally look too droopy, whilst I don’t have the legs for minis.

DreamyScroller · 28/04/2026 19:43

I rarely see anything available other than miniskirts. It's really annoying as I'd love to wear mid length or full length skirts more.

Floisme · 28/04/2026 19:45

I'm happy with what's available at the moment. I particularly like some of the midi skirts.

Caterpillargirl23 · 28/04/2026 19:47

Yup, there's nothing except mini or maxi skirts. I can't find knee length apart from vinted and ebay. I don't mind slightly above or below my knee but I can't find much. Also in plain colours.

Edelweiss129 · 28/04/2026 20:56

Totally agree.
I like dresses and skirts hitting me on the knee, with a fitted bodice and floaty or pleated/gathered skirt to remove attention from my mummy tummy. So I've made quite a few in the last few years. Above the knee doesn't look good on my knobbly knees, midi length makes me look shorter and there are only so many maxi dresses I can wear when I have nice calves.

HaveYouFedTheFish · 28/04/2026 21:06

I know it's slightly out there, but have you looked at Etsy? I have two maxi skirts I like from 'LinenSea" on there and they also do knee length plain colour linen skirts. They're not cheap but the quality is good, simple but well made, wash well, have pockets. I've had mine three years I think.

ToadRage · 28/04/2026 21:26

I have noticed the opposite, I like a maxi or a mini but I seem to mostly find midis which really don't suit me.

BCBird · 28/04/2026 21:31

I agree OP. Also it seems to.me that midi is longer than.it used to be, it is nearer to the ankle than mid shin

MidnightMeltdown · 28/04/2026 21:41

Knee length just hasn’t been in fashion for a while, but there will be zillions on Vinted.
