Penelope Chilvers Shepherdess sandals: should I size up or keep them?

Ive received my order of Penelope Chilvers Shepherdess Sandals and they fit perfectly, but there is no wiggle room at all. Their size guide says if you are normally a half size to consider sizing up.

Does anyone have experience with this brand or sandal, and can offer advice?

I love them and want to keep them but right now I just don’t know.

Thank you.

Where do you need the extra room, at the ankle or the instep? I don't know if a size up would give you much more space! Since they are open toe I'd say the length is ok, maybe?

Any time I've bought ankle strap styles I've had to have another hole punched in the strap as my instep is high. Just thinking out loud here!

EDIT I see they fit you perfectly, so I'm not sure what your concern is, as leather usually stretches a bit over time anyway.

You make interesting points; it’s actually the length that I’m concerned about. DH thinks my toes look “Crammed in” 🤣 there is no space where my heel ends, but I don’t know if there should be?

I have these. As they're leather they give a bit anyway. They're very comfy. I'm saving up for the dark brown this year.

If you look at the model's feet, they are right back on the heel, but have a little "give" at the toes. I don't know if a size up would make a huge difference, since the leather will loosen over time anyway. Why not wear them around the house for a bit and test them out going up and down stairs (if you have them!) and see if there are any pinch points. Then if there is ANY hint of discomfort, change the size.

I am very fussy about my shoes too. They have to be right or I'll never like them, but leather is very forgiving.

Everyone’s feet are different and nobody online can tell you if they fit or not, especially just from a description. If you’re unsure, order the next size up as well and see what you think, and return one or both pairs.

Excellent suggestions; thanks everyone. I did notice the model’s feet. I think I will try the next size up and then decide.
