Ideas for a little welcome basket for a 20 year old please?

My 20 year old goddaughter is coming to stay next month and I'd love to make her up a little basket of nice things for her stay. I love the bones of her and I'm thinking PJs, face mask, nice shower gel and would love some other suggestions please? I have literally no idea what a 20 year old would like! 😂

A tiny jelly cat amusable, chocolate?

You sound lovely! My 20y would also love a lip balm, any black mascara, some chocs, something cute eg hello kitty or jellycats, soft socks etc. If you wanted to push the boat out, a Hollister or urban outfitters gift card for £20 would go down well too! My child would also love a Rubik’s cube type puzzle but that might be a bit niche!

Some small sweet treats or snacks? I never want to get up late at night at someone’s house if I feel a little peckish.

Lip balm, emery boards, shower cap, slippers or flip flops, sugar free mints

Key ring and key.

A Sol de Janeiro spray!

Slippers /flip flops as people often forget to bring them and it can be grim walking barefoot round a strangers house

Screamingabdabz · 24/04/2026 23:33

Haribo
Cute note pad
lip balm or gloss (Christian Dior if you’re minted)
heart hoop earrings
If you get PJs they’ve got to be the supersoft ones from Primark
Biscoff biscuits
hair oil
Cute packets of tissues like the Cath Kidson ones
Tiny pot of flowers

I teach undergraduates and a lot of the girls like Summer Fridays lip butter and Laniege lip mask things, big water bottles, and yes, Jellycats. I wouldn’t buy someone pyjamas unless I knew exactly what they liked - we had a conversation about this in a class a few weeks ago and it was so mixed, long pjs, boyfriend’s old t-shirt, shorts and vest pjs, but the Primark boyfriend style was popular.

The 20 somethings I know like Rituals products. Jellycat amusables are a good shout.

For something a bit different I'd add a rose quartz or amethyst gemstone, scented candle, hair mask, cute little trinket bowl for her rings or jewellery

Thank you all so much, lots of really nice suggestions here!

I wouldn’t buy mascara pjs or lip gloss, too personal. Stick to flowers and a little jelly cat or similar, in her room and tickets for something fun to do together.

Key ring and key.

And a toothbrush and paste in case she forgets hers. I always do.

I think all those ideas are great but would also add all the snacks. Candy Kittens, popcorn, chocolate etc. I’m always threatening that there will be rats in DDs room with the amount of snacks she keeps up there.

@Makemineacosmo fancy adopting me as an extra goddaughter? you sound lovely 😍

Great suggestions so far - maybe a nice candle (St Eval do lovely ones), some herbal teabags/fancy coffee/hot chocolate/canned cocktails/mini bottle of fizz/whatever she likes to drink, a little box of really nice handmade chocolates, fluffy socks, hair mask, maybe a book if you know what sort of thing she likes, perhaps a spa gift card if you want to push the boat out (you could go together), a mini craft kit if she likes that sort of thing (crochet is particularly popular with the early 20s crowd at the moment due to the 90s revival), one of those ‘thought a day’ five year journals, some really nice handcream.
