Wedding dress like wed4lesa bluebell woods

Hi, I tried on the bluebell woods long sleeve dress from wed4less and I love the style on me.

we’re only having a low key wedding so I don’t want the £950 price tag. Can anybody find me a decent dupe? I was hoping for max £500.

I particularly love the wrap chest and the long sleeves (although I would be happy with more flowing fluted sleeves ).

I was initially wanting a floral embroidered boho style gown, and would be happy to nod to these elements still.

thanks.

Thanks.

That’s is so pretty. It actually looks like a wedding dress to me and not an occassion dress.

have you ever shopped with ‘ever pretty’ as I’ve never heard of them?

I think my daughter tried on every single brand of reasonably priced wedding dress available online so I’m a bit of an unwilling expert 😂.

The EverPretty dresses are lovely but very lightweight. They’d be great for a beach wedding or if you can’t be doing with too much heavy fabric.

Monsoon dresses are gorgeous. Surprisingly good quality for the price.

Coast dresses are lovely with some really unusual fabrics; you do need good underwear in those though, and it’s worth going up a size and getting minor alterations.

Steer clear of Etsy. They are “made to measure” but often from poor quality fabric, and if they don’t fit it’s tough luck. They will say you measured wrong and you lose your money.

Thanks for steering me right, your knowledge will be put to good use, I promise.

would something like this work? The dress itself has the shape of the bluebell. Remove these sleeves, and have blue bell sleeves made. At that price I might indulgently suggest that you buy 2 to provide fabric for your bespoke sleeve….

Or have a clever seamstress do something with the original sleeves, it is hard to tell how much fabric is there…

Sleepeazie · 23/04/2026 08:54

@Sanddancing what a great idea. I’ll look into the sizing of the first dress, as they only have it left in a 12 (that’s my size, but I was 14 or 16 in the wedding dresses at the wedding dress boutique).

Thanks for your help :)

I brought a similar ever pretty dress last year as my original wedding dress, it was lovely and perfect for our small wedding, however I have since lost 7 stone. I’ve now brought a dress from Shein, I was so suprised with the quality for the price. On the other hand I ordered 5 from Coast, their quality and cut was shocking, it also took me weeks and weeks and lots of contact with their customer services to get my money back.

My advice to you would be buy the dress! We had low budget wedding and while it was a fantastic day i opted for the cheaper dress that come the day I hated! And couldn’t wait to take it off. This is, hopefully, a one off day and you deserve to look and feel as special as you want

Sleepeazie · 22/04/2026 15:34

Thanks @pelagra im definitely prepared to punt for that price and as @bridgetreilly says - get some good underwear.

@HelloDaisy I’ll take a look now.

I’ve got a ticket for a 50% off sale at a hotel in Sunday for some designer gowns around £500+ but tbh I don’t love any of the ones on their actual website so im not sure it’s worth the trip .

theres also a couple on Etsy that I like, and I can have these ‘made to measure’. Has anybody ever bought a wedding dress off Etsy?

One of the only times I’ve ever looked better than the model was in my wedding dress. Never been sure they didn’t take crap photos on person so brides looked better. So you might like the dresses better in person.

It is still crossing my mind. Honestly, I don’t feel wow in it. I just thought it looked good on me. My mother in law to be cried, and my family/friends said it was ‘me’.

I think that’s why I’m hesitant. I don’t think it’s ‘the one’.

I also am bigger than ive been most my life, and so am maybe looking to minimise my weight gain - as much as I am to pick a dress I like. I’m by no means massive, but a size 12 at 5ft is a size 14 really. I’ve always been a size 8/10.

I really wanted a boho style, sweetheart or V neck with floral embroidery and lacy draped layers .. the boutique didn’t have any embroidered styles - but I hated my arms in the sleeveless dresses. The ballgown all swamped my short frame too. I have too much overhang for a fully fitted mermaid style, so it has to be A-Line really.

Im considering re-attempting to lose some weight over the next 2 months (maybe mounjaro, which I tried last Feb and didn’t enjoy jabbing myself so stopped after 6 weeks, then reassessing.

I don’t have a notion of me as a princess on my wedding day but I don’t want to shrink my personality and usual style or go against what I initially wanted either.

It’s so hard to decide 😂.

Thanks for everybody who has helped so far though. It’s a work in progress still !

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 23/04/2026 23:15

I don't like your arms in the one with the sleeves, don't know why it just feels like the sleeves ought to be more flowing to go with the dress. You do have a cleavage in that dress, did you want that.

The second dress looks lovely, gives you a much better waist than the first one. Personally I would like it with just slightly thicker straps ?

Sleepeazie · 23/04/2026 23:46

Well I’ve added a few more I tried on, as I appreciate all of your unbiased opinions.

id you could point out what looks good/bad.. maybe i can work from that…

  1. Simple, maybe too simple / plain ? was it fastened up at the back ? as it's not quite right around the bust ?
  2. surprised me, I actually said wow ! as I really like the sleeves. going to ask again - was it done up properly at the back as it looks like it is slipping off your left shoulder ( the shoulder where I believe we see a black bra strap ? ) Tho I would be having a little insert of lacey stuff at the bust area - but then I am old !
  3. I am sure it must be a lovely dress however I don't think it does anything for you figure wise - around the bust or the waist.
Sleepeazie · 24/04/2026 07:54

@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon they we’re all done up.

They needed adjustments in the shoulder area, the lady said.

your second favourite looks best / most flattering from pictures imo

The 'second favourite' dress looks really lovely on you - nicer than the bluebell woods one imo.

The satin dress in the group of three photos is also really nice.
