Tretinoin users - do you use any other actives on non-tret evenings?

I'm currently using my tretinoin every other night. I increased my dosage recently and had some normal side effects so I'm taking it easy. I had been just using a hydrating serum and moisturiser on the nights when I don't use tret, and well as glycolic acid about once a week

Last week, I started using retinol 0.2% in squalane from The Ordinary on my non tret nights and my skin seems to love it! It's more glowy than usual. My skin type is dry and dehydrated, slightly sensitive

What do others do? Mix it up with other actives, or focus on moisture on non tret nights? Ta

I am also an every other night Tretter and just moisturise on non Tret nights. What difference are you seeing with the Squalane, it sounds interesting!

I've been using the retinol in squalane on my neck because that area doesn't tolerate tret well. I started using it on my face a week or so ago and I've just noticed my face looking even more glowy than usual. It may just be down to using the tret consistently for years! It's glorious stuff

For dry dehydrated skin that's already tolerating tretinoin well, low-percentage retinol on alternating nights is a sensible approach and the glow you're noticing makes sense. You're maintaining consistent retinoid activity without overloading the skin on any single night. Glycolic once a week on top of that is fine as long as your barrier Feels stable. The main thing to watch with dry skin on tret is not letting the exfoliation outpace your barrier support.
