Help! What to wear to black tie summer wedding

I've been invited to a black tie London wedding in the summer. Struggling with what to wear - I'm a size 12/14, 5'6" and pear shaped. I have visions of myself in some kind of long silk dress but really not sure what's best. Willing to pay up to £200 for something gorgeous but I get most of my clothes off Vinted now...

There are always beautiful phase eight dresses on vinted. If you are pear shape get something structured that shows off your curves.

Pear shape usually has one curve! Well so I’ve found! Bum snd tum usually!
Can I just ask op, how is your waist? Could you wear waisted, or do you prefer a looser fit? I’ll have a think about possibilities.

The dress code doesn’t mean you have to wear long by the way. Men should wear evening suits and women need “occasion wear”. Long silk dress is great but budget might be a bit tight for that.

I do love Phase Eight but I think for black tie the dress should be floor length, and most of theirs seem to be knee length...

I do not think you will get a good quality silk dress in that budget, but Ghost has beautiful long satin dresses in stunning colours for about £200. Black tie doesn’t demand long dresses but you can if you wish. The old notion of a cocktail dress is absolutely fine. All these are John Lewis but you also have makers like Ghost who have their satin dresses. Phase 8 is a bit too obvious in my view.
