I’m in the market for a new night cream. I mainly just want it to smell great and feel nice to apply.
but don’t want to spend more than £20!

would love any suggestion please?

Probably Oil of Olay?

Weirdconditionaltense · 21/04/2026 02:46

I was in Boots yesterday and I saw a tester for one in their own brand that hadn't been used much so I gave it a go and it was fantastic. So thick and yet absorbed so fast. Sadly I can't even tell you what the pot looked like.. maybe white and pale blue?

I can't pretend I noticed the smell but I do regularly try different creams and this one was just amazing. I don't need any at the moment, just use it when my skin is extra dry, but if I was going to buy some, that one would be in the running.

Sorry so vague, it's not much help. Mainly pop in and have a look/test ?

Revolution miracle cream Duoe of CT MAGIC CREAM had a strong perfume-y scent and they do a night cream now.

Loccitane immortelle is lovely and smells amazing like a floral potion! I can’t explain how intoxicating the scent is!! I got free travel sir sample of the toning water and cream

octane tests on animals. so do l’oréal. there are so many cruelty free brands. Just sharing and hope you will consider.

Which are cruelty free brands

I love the Lidl night cream! It fits your criteria and costs about £4. It's really rich and creamy and smells great. I doubt it has much in the way of active ingredients but it does provide moisture 😁

Shatandfattered · 21/04/2026 05:50

I'm obsessed with astral cocoa butter now. I honestly have never been so enamored with my own skin 🙈😂 sorry for the blur but here's the ingredients while I have it to hand if it helps!

I very much rate this - available from Amazon but I think a Korean one. It’s vegan. I’m actually onto my third pot of it and usually I’m very fickle with face cream…

Thanks, this sounds ideal! Not bothered about active ingredients tbh, just wanting to moisturise (I’d put it on after retinol anyway).
I feel like I’ll be more consistent with my nighttime skincare if it’s a nice experience, putting it on iyswim!

Thanks, I didn’t know that about l’occitane. I’ve only just bought the almond oil shower gel to try, but I won’t repurchase.

Hi does the astral cream have a very noticeable cocoa smell ? I don't like that smell but looking out for a bargain now

No it actually doesn't tbh

harrietthespi · 21/04/2026 20:42

Astral , the blue tub, massive and about £5 , smells like proper old school face cream, really rehydrating , but only at night, it does not absorb quickly !

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 21/04/2026 21:26

I use this and really like it.

Thanks everyone! I ended buying a large blue tin of Nivea (£4!) which I’d forgotten all about. It smells like ‘old school’ face cream as someone mentioned above which is thumbs up for me.
The texture is a bit weird (it goes ‘slippy’ between your fingers) so I’d try one of the other suggestions next time, but cracking on with this for now bc it is going to last me months!
