Wide-leg jeans that are not ridiculously massive

Can anyone recommend some wide (or wide-ish) leg jeans that do not have absolutely massive legs in a size 14? All the ones I've tried are so wide that they cover my feet and I look like an actual clown.

So far I've tried jeans from:
M&S
New Look
Mango
Crew Clothing
Next

All looked a reasonable width on the models but for some reason the legs become insanely wide in anything above a size 10.

I would have given up the search by now but the cut is pretty flattering on me in general apart from the stupid leg width!

You need relaxed straight leg jeans 😊 I got a pair from Fat Face after a recommendation on here and they're brilliant - just the right amount of width without the clown trouser look.

Halara: they spam your socials but the jeans are 💯

I like the Zara ones, they’re wide but not too wide.

I have so many pairs of leggings, trousers and jeans from there. Everything just fits so well and looks great

is this cut good for people with tree trunk legs? I carry any weight I gain on my thighs first, so have huge thighs (never lose it from there either) and there’s no real shape to my calves (never had shape even when skinny). I’ve always gone for wide leg because I have wide legs and every other fit seeks uncomfortable. But I also find them too wide - I just didn’t think I had any other option!

Thanks!

I tried the M&S wide leg jeans for the first time today as I always see them recommended here. I looked ridiculous, they were so wide. I’m sticking with the Levi ribcage straight jeans which are slightly wide legged and definitely wide enough for my short legs. They’re not perfect as the denim is quite stiff although the white/cream ones I have the denim is softer.

I would go for straight leg. I’m a 12 and I think wide jeans are unflattering. They just make me look wider than I am. I think you need to be really slim to pull them off well

Snag jeans. I haven’t worn jeans for 20 years because of the fit. These have got me back into them !

I have the same problem but have two pairs of M&S autograph jeans that are straight legged but wide enough to look wide legged if that makes sense. They’re in the Autograph part of the shop, not with the other jeans.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 19/04/2026 04:26

My best pair are from Palome. They’re straight legs rather than wide, and are so flattering. I love them.

Uniqlo JW Anderson (Head Designer at Dior) Straight leg jeans. I’ve got them in light and dark blue and I wear them a touch longer than those pictured. Perfect with trainers or flat Mary Jane’s.Uniqlo Jeans

River Island straight leg. They are wide really but not insanely so

RopaVieja · 19/04/2026 07:47

Ahhh you're all amazing, thank you! I will look in to all of these!

I am fairly slim but with a bit of a tummy so something with wider legs does suit me ok but I can't deal with the comically huge legs!

Halara. No question. Get them on tiktok

I absolutely love my m and s palazzo jeans. I have them in three colours.

bumptybum · 19/04/2026 07:51

The leg shape is maintained in all sizes so a wide leg widens from whatever width the thigh is. So the bigger the jean the wider the leg opening. That’s why a size 14 leg opening is so much bigger than a size 8

if you want the look of a wide leg jean but find the hem opening is too wide for your height, go for straight

I tried a few pairs from Next, DH was helpfully in fits of laughter, making comments about curtains …

My favourites at the moment are Levi’s. Can’t remember the number but they’re shaping ones. I’ve got them in black and mid blue.
