What do people wear for a hen weekend at 40?

Best friend getting married in a couple of months and I’m her maid of honour. Both of us turned 40 this year.

I’ve organised the hen weekend and there’s about 22 of us going. Mainly her family (think mum, aunties, cousins etc…)

ive never actually been on a hen weekend! What do people wear for these things? I’ve lived under a rock since I’ve had kids and usually turn into a pumpkin (in pyjamas…) by 9pm.

We are going out for dinner both nights, cocktail making class and reserved area in a bar after dinner.

Smart top and trousers too casual? Can’t actually remember the last time I went out at night 🤣🙈

No advice here as the last hen weekend I went on was when I was in my 40s and we went walking, went to some art galleries, and then stayed in the Air BnB both evenings drinking and playing games!

If you're going to a cocktail bar i'd probably go a bit more glam than smart top and trousers.

We’re away at the moment, been in lovely bars and nice restaurants, lots of women are wearing adidas trainers with wide leg jeans and balloon sleeve blouses, sheer blouses, silky blouses and blazers
Also satin midi skirts with short sleeved jumpers, again with trainers.
Ive worn tan kitten heeled mules both nights with jeans and felt a bit too dressed up 🙄

I’m 41 and when going out I opt for Jean, heels and a nice top, blazer is always nice. You can dress outfits up with jewellery and a nice belt/bag. Have a look on Pinterest for some ideas that’s always really useful. And try to dress for your body type.

I’m going out twice in the next month and I’m planning on wearing cropped wide leg black jeans with a sheet long sleeve top (with a vest underneath) and then barrel jeans with a zara bodysuit and heels.

Thanks ladies. I think half my problem is that I don’t know what I like anymore when it comes to ‘going out clothes’. Body shape has changed so much in the last 5 years or so.

going to have a mooch around online and see what’s what….

Where do you usually shop, @ByRubyOrca, and what’s your budget? The good thing is if you’re organising the events you set the tone. So you can wear exactly what you think is ideal.

You probably don't need to go mega dressy. My hen was similar vibes last year and people wore jeans, nice tops and trainers in the day . Evening was more dresses but still trainers.
