What’s the UK equivalent of Coach bags?

I love watching Coach bag restoration videos and wondered what is the equivalent of Coach bag in the UK? I can’t see it being Mulberry bags.

Why?

Coach & Mulberry are both very popular bags in the UK. Then there is Fairfax & Favourite for the Horsy set & Strathberry for the royal style watchers.

Mulberry is higher end than Coach I think. Coach is more akin in Michael Kors imo

TheOpalReader · 17/04/2026 21:29

Coach? I have a few and see plenty of them about.

Comefromaway · 17/04/2026 21:37

I think Cosch is much better quality than Michael Kors. Mulberry is higher end, but Coach is good value. Michael Kors looks cheap.

Cheaper stuff from Aspinal probably crosses over into Coach prices? Or Tusting maybe?

Why?

Because I am curious if people restore vintage bags in the UK in terms of brands and how often people get them pretty cheaply and restore them. It’s not inherently toy about the status associated with a bag brand.

The beauty of older Coach bags is that they were made with very high quality leather and metal parts, and will last many lifetimes if well treated or carefully restored to their original state.

I have several vintage Coach bags, bought very cheaply in Goodwill (nationwide second hand chain in the US) - think $9.99 and less. The quality is streets ahead of other brands.

I love Goodwill shops @mathanxietythe quality of items there and at Value Village is so much higher than at UK charity shops. ❤️

Michael Kors has had its day, whereas Coach is more classy and longstanding.

Depends on the age of the bag. Vintage Coach is good leather and imo far better than latest offerings. I have vintage bags, with no recognisable brand, where the leather, design and construction leave bags available now well behind in terms of quality. They restore the old stuff because it is worth it and it is possible, so they can be used again, like a bag is meant to be! I don't like this handbag is an investment approach or to treat it gently, so it not then really being fit for purpose. I can't think.of a direct brand equivalent for older Coach.

In UK, Russell and Bromley, Strathberry, Wandler, De Mellier, Yusefi and Dragon Diffusion for woven bags.
