Shapewear knickers or camisole for smoothing a tummy?

If I am trying to hide a bulge of belly in high waist trousers, should I be getting shapewear knickers or a camisole/vest?

I thought high waist trousers were meant to help hide a belly. I have lost weight since having kids and now back to a size 12 but sadly can't shift the wee bulge that looks worse from the side!

Thanks in advance for any advice x

If the knicker waist is lower than the bulge, they won’t work. I’d buy a body with a bra - all in one. Not sure a camisole is firm enough.

Thank you, this was my issue. If the pants dont go high enough it won't work and I didn't know a camisole was a thing until I was googling yesterday!

Both M&S and Spanx do a high-waisted, tummy control thong. The waist band is really thick/deep so it’s not an uncomfortable thong at all and the tummy control panel holds everything in amazingly.

M&S are cheaper thank Spanx, but the Spanx ones are on Amazon so quicker delivery. They’re as good as each other at flattening the tummy IMO without giving the ‘solid bum’ affect of other shape wear and aren’t so tight you can’t breathe.

I am having the same debate OP, so will join your thread in search of answers.

I bought very high, control pants - they reach under bust. Hold everything in, but I think I bought badly. The pants have bones, similar to bras, and because of that are uncomfortable when sitting.

I am debating non-boned high pants, or sharewear vests.

My office buddy (both of us late 40s and have lost weight recently, so have flabby skin in our bellies) wears sharewear vests. Really strong fabric, no bones, she tells me they don't roll up. I'm tempted.
