What shoes would suit this dress for a second date?

Ok
i actually have a second date for once. I’ve bought this dress to wear. But now I’m at a total loss what sort of shoes to wear.
it’s too cold for proper sandals and I don’t want tall heels as it doesn’t seem to fit. I don’t like my foot too exposed if that makes sense and I would like a bit of a heel/wedge not flats as I’m short.
Please help me out!
Bonus if they’re a size 6 and on Vinted x
Thank you!

It’s Scamp and Dude. I actually think I have some superga in silver and rose gold that might go. Good idea!

I don’t want to piss on your chips but that’s a lot of outfit for a 2nd date. Where’s he taking you?

I have this dress, Sugarhill Brighton? Also short so wore it with a platform gold trainer a bit like this one..

I like the tan with it - Tu have some nice tan real suede ballet flats but there’ll be too flat for you but something like this with maybe a Flatform?

I don’t think it’s overdressed at all. I do think it’s a bit summery though, I’d be freezing cold.

HopefulBeliever · 14/04/2026 08:02

Thanks all. I fell in love with this dress as I love blue and it fits me well.
I don’t know what else to wear.
Apart from relationships a long time ago, I’ve not had a second date recently 🤣
Looks like you’re all saying go back to the drawing board!

Oh I think that dress is gorgeous, @HopefulBeliever & as somebody who also hasn't had a second date in donkeys years, I'd happily wear that.

I havn't been to a Michelin star pub but Google says the dress code is smart casual so I'd think that as long as you don't go overboard with the accessories then that dress will be fine! I'd go for Navy.

It's a pretty dress @HopefulBeliever there are always people who think your fine at the finest fine dining in your jeans!
Wear it, I would have tan or navy accents if you want to dress it down, but the shiny supergas would be fab.
Enjoy your date 😘😍

SleepingStandingUp · 14/04/2026 09:23

Chances are, being male, he won't know if your dress cost £20 or £200 so I wouldn't worry about it being too much. You love it, you feel good in it, he's only thinking about getting it off, wear the dress

Why? It's hardly a ballgown and tiara.

TheyGrewUp · 14/04/2026 09:25

It's a stunning dress, but I agree with others, a bit too dressy for a second date and dinner at a pub, even if.it is Michelin starred.

Longesttimeframe · 14/04/2026 09:28

Yes it’s sparkly but the cut and material
make it casual not too dressed up! I think it’s lovely !

I wear this kind of dress all the time! The shirred puff sleeve dress is everywhere at the moment, and the sparkly threads make it appropriate for an evening out at a nice eatery. If it makes you feel good, go for it!

Dressfinder · 14/04/2026 09:36

Unless you're whacking on a tiara and opera gloves, you're not going to be overdressed. It's a lovely dress and a very casual cut, just with a bit of sparkle.
A peep toe wedge would look great with this and fits the bill. I'd go nude or bright pink.

Gettingbysomehow · 14/04/2026 09:38

The only dress you shouldnt wear to a second date is a wedding dress 😂
The dress is gorgeous so why not. I often wear occasion wear round town because life is too short not to!
I agree a casual style footwear. Not trainers.
Espadrilles or pumps.
Shame its too cold for sandals.

10namechangeslater · 14/04/2026 12:00

I see it more as a summer dress with sandals. I also wouldn’t be buying an entire outfit for a second date I’d be wearing stuff I already own and not making a massive effort.

HopefulBeliever You can buy new for any occasion that you like, & well done on the weight loss!

I've bought new for dates before, as long as I'll wear it again another time (which I always do) then why not?

Viviennemary · 14/04/2026 17:35

It's a very nice dress. But far too dressed up for a night out in a pub. Even a posh one.

ChickenOyster · 14/04/2026 17:37

I would wear it. I would wear things that you normally wear and feel good in. If that’s your normal dress for a meal in a pub, then go for it. Especially if it’s Michelin star. What about a chunky cardi to balance out the sparkle, maybe?

ChickenOyster · 14/04/2026 17:38

Ignore the naysayers OP. Wear it with confidence and a smile!
