How many T-shirts do you keep in your wardrobe?

Just in the middle of bringing out my spring summer clothes and I only have 3 tshirts (one plain, one striped and one with a print). I also have 3 short sleeves blouses which I wear a lot for work and the rest is a handful of shirts and blouses I wear all year round. I think I need more clothes but we are trying to save hard at the moment and feel a bit bad about spending on clothes. How many tshirts do you have in your wardrobe?

I don't have any for daily wear. I have some band t shirts that I only wear to concerts.

PostAndGhost · 08/04/2026 20:24

A lot!

Catcatcatcatcat · 08/04/2026 20:24

Far too many, but I am planning to trim my wardrobe back drastically this summer.

I don’t wear 3/4 of my clothes because I forget they’re even there somewhere in the wardrobe.

If money is tight, you can get t shirts brand new with tags, or good quality secondhand off Vinted. Just try to find a seller with quite a few things you like so you minimise delivery fees.

None of my own

I have one very worn one of DH's which I use for painting, gardening and DIY.

BlueRaspberry7 · 08/04/2026 20:30

I have 3 as well - one white, one black, one black and white striped. God that’s boring now I think about it. Feels plenty though, suppose it depends if you’re a daily t shirt wearer or not.

EmbarrassmentLovesCompany · 08/04/2026 20:46

Maybe 15?
Short sleeved, long sleeved. Work, home, excerise, sleeping, and casual doing out.
BUT I wear them 7 days a week, and don't really wear other tops (or dresses) unless a very smart occasion.

GameOfJones · 08/04/2026 22:32

Roughly 10 or so in various colours. They're my go to in summer though with shorts or lightweight trousers, and then in winter I wear them under jumpers.

Ragamuffin8 · 09/04/2026 14:31

About 14, but I wear one everyday.

henlake7 · 09/04/2026 15:42

Probably over 50, Im too scared to count!😆
My downfall is that I love a graphic tee and am a sucker for a fun print (also I love Primark and Poundland t shirts so pick them up for a few quid).
All sizes too, I like them fitted and I like them oversized depending on the outfit.

TBH Id struggle with what to wear on my top half without t shirts!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/04/2026 16:41

Loads. I have about ten white t-shirts I wear as a base layer under knits/cardigans, mainly the Uniqlo boxy crew neck tee, then a few stripy ones, plus about ten graphic t-shirts which are mainly Ganni and Urban Outfitters. I also have a few long sleeved tops which are arguably also t-shirts, stripy ones from Lioness, plain Arket ones.

I don’t own any blouses or shirts though, so tend to wear a tee most days either on its own or as a layering item.

EasterDecoration · 09/04/2026 16:47

At least 20 but I wear them most days apart from in the height of summer when dresses come out. Various shapes and styles but only a couple of colours plus black, white and grey.

I have virtually no blouses or shirts though, they just don't suit me and feel too restrictive.

user593 · 09/04/2026 16:58

Four, but I wash a lot and we have a dryer.

VikingLady · 09/04/2026 17:04

I don’t hang most of them in the wardrobe; there are far too many. Probably a dozen tank top, half a dozen camisoles, twenty or so short sleeved and another dozen long sleeved. Although the fancy ones are hung.

They are so easy to wear! Layered, tucked or untucked, belt options, under a floaty shirt (I must have half a dozen of those too).

bugalugs45 · 09/04/2026 17:24

M&S gave me a 20% off tops a few weeks back so I bought 6 all in one hit ( weight loss ) but tbh they were all about £8 /£9 full price so wasn’t a huge outlay.
I probably have 6 already , some slogan ones and some I just wear for the gym

Betsylee · 09/05/2026 22:26

I have two drawers full! Some are short sleeved, cap sleeves, three quarter sleeve and long sleeve which are also in my wardrobe and ottoman too.
I have striped, pattern and plain, you can never have too many, I wear as a layer in the winter under jumpers when they get worn or lose colour, and then they go as cleaning cloths!
I also must have about 15 vests/sleeveless too.

TheChosenTwo · 09/05/2026 22:29

I only have 5 T-shirts, 4 plain and 1 stripey.
not a big lover of T-shirts really and would never wear a graphic/band tshirt or anything with a print on it. I’m a block colour girl.
They live in a drawer.
ETA I forgot, I do also have another 5 T-shirts for exercise purposes but these are in a separate drawer for gym wear!

JaceLancs · 09/05/2026 22:33

I don’t really wear t shirts so maybe have 3 or 4
Its dresses all the way for me - I could easily go a month without wearing the same dress

Nourishinghandcream · 09/05/2026 22:53

More than thirty!😱
Even worse, there are about a dozen polo shirts as well.
Don't even get me started on counting buttoned shirts, blouses etc.

My wardrobe (and drawers) are certainly well stocked.

Gettingbysomehow · 10/05/2026 08:51

I have around 15 in every colour. I like the v neck cotton traders ones but also have Marks and Matalan. I wear them all summer and under jumpers in winter so I dont have to wash the jumpers that often.

RavenT · 10/05/2026 09:57

Loads, probably 40 (short sleeve, long sleeve, 3/4 etc, some smarter ones for work or going out), then another 10 or so that are older that are used for chill days at home/cleaning/gardening etc.
They are all I wear - don't do shirts, blouses, dresses etc.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 10/05/2026 10:01

A few. More tops though.

ReallyOtter · 10/05/2026 10:04

I am not sure. More than 10 but fewer than 50. You see, I think of 'going out' T shirts differently from gym / gardening / sleep T shirts.

Inextremis · 10/05/2026 10:56

I honestly don't know - it could be as many as 100! I'm retired, and a t-shirt and leggings are my daily 'uniform' - I like graphic, silly T-shirts (and leggings), and also have a load of plain ones in every colour I like.

Homeiswherethedogsare · 18/05/2026 10:24

Thanks all. What brands do you typically buy? I want good quality but not excessive price and like nice cuts and prints etc
