Anyone had permanent eyeliner tattooed on and can share experiences?

I’m thinking about having permanent eye-liner as I’m sick of the patchy, rubbish job I’m making of it. I don’t wear thick liner, it’s barely more than tight lining on my top lid. If I don’t wear liner, though, my eyes seem to just sink into my head, if that makes sense!

Has anyone had permanent eye-liner tattooed on? Please would you tell me about your experience; how much did it hurt, how long did it take, what the immediate aftercare was, was it worth it etc?

I have had it done and love it, mine is 6 years on. Wasn’t too sore and aftercare was fine. Do go to someone really reputable though. I don’t even own an eye lining pencil now.

Yes, love mine. I first did just the lashline, which looked very natural, but then wanted a bit more, so have had a shaded liner for a few years. It didn't hurt. Eyes were a little swollen afterwards. Totally worth it.

I have it. I lost my lovely black eyelashes to alopecia. I am too rubbish at make up to apply eyeliner well myself, and without anything I looked like an alien.

It feels quite an alarming procedure. Not painful, just a bit nerve wracking to have someone operate a needle so close to your eye.

But the result is very good. And long-lasting too. My eyebrow tattoos have faded, been re-applied and faded again, but my eyeliner is still as strong as when it was applied in 2020. Perhaps this is because it is black (in effect, though I can't remember if it was actually called 'black')

The lady that did my brows and lips won’t touch my eyes for eyeliner. I have very vascular eyelids and she said the pigment would migrate and wouldn’t look good. Defo worth a consultation. If you don’t mind travelling I can highly recommend the lady I use.

Ive had it done and had a top up maybe w years later. In fact I might look at booking in again.
I had it done e around d the same time I had my lip blush done.
I absolutely love it.
It didnt hurt a bit. In fact t the rhythm of the tapping on my eyes and lips was quite relaxing and I had to force myself not to go to sleep.

I’ve not had eyeliner in in process of having my brows done by someone new who seems amazing and it is making me consider eye liner and lips.i think just find someone whose work you like and has good reviews

Yes. After DD was born, I had it done. Took about two hours, not painful, and have not needed a top up despite it being 10 years ago. I'm not a big make-up person, but since my teens I have always preferred a bit of definition there. I'd go for it.

So you weren't able to do it?

I've been thinking about this

And now I'm wondering whether my eyelids are suitable 😂 I would love to not have all the issues in summer. I look like a ghost without eyeliner it's ridiculous.

Yes I've had it done fairly recently. Didn't hurt though my eyelids puffed up for 2-3 days after. Really pleased with the result. I had the lash line and a slim line above. I wanted to go thicker but she said it might look weird when I had no other make up on. I have my brows done too and it's really nice to see a bit of definition on my face when I get up.

I do a full face of make up most days and if so, I do put more eyeliner over the top. But it's great if I'm just nipping out for a swim or cycle as I feel like i have permanent subtle make up on!

I want to get the lip blush done next!

Had this done 5 years ago and it’s really lasted. I was nervous about a needle being so close to my eye and it was uncomfortable/weird feeling during the process. The lady who did it was fantastic and said we could take as many breaks as I needed. We got there in the end and it was so worth it! Check out reviews and photos from any PMU artists you are considering.

Thank you all so much, ladies, for sharing your experiences and advice. I really do appreciate it.

Without good lashes and brows I’m starting to think my face looks like a potato! I’ve researched quite a few salons from here to Glasgow and a very local one has excellent reviews. The results photos are good, too, and there were some showing the kind of results I’m after. I think I’ll book a consultation with them, especially as I’d never even thought about the issues @MakeMineAMilkyTea talks about!

Thank you all again for your insight. I’ve done a bit of research recently and now, having heard from women who have actually had it done, and been happy with the process & results, has helped make up my mind to go for it. X
