Boys jeans - narrow hips and long legs

My son is 7 and in mainly 7-8 clothing, but am having a real struggle with jeans for him.

His waist fits comfortably in 6-7 years, but legs need to be 8-9. I have gone through all the shops I can think of, but not having any luck.
I tried getting the ones with the string, but still not helpful as they slide down, same thing with the buttons on the side (the crotch area is massive) even though I can get the waist to fit. They look massive.

Mostly shop at Next and occasionally M&S. Happy to venture further out. Anyone tried any of the scandi brands? Would they be better?

H&M have adjustable waists in quite a lot of sizes which suit my DS.

The best fit jeans my DC with narrow waist and long legs has is a tally Temu. Once he found them he ordered 3 more pairs in different colours. He had several pairs from other places but all gaped at waist.

If you google something like “extra tall” or “longer leg” you might have better results than using search terms like “skinny”, “slim” or “narrow” because they tend to bring up leg styles instead.

I came on to say H&M too. As a mum to 2 tall skinny boys, they have the best jeans - my 13 year old is wearing the aged 15 wide leg, they have tabs with elastic so he has them pulled right in. He loves them as they are so comfy.

My boys also love H&M joggers, they say they are the softest.
