Ideas for a black tie work event dress

Hello, would like some ideas. I have a work black tie evening event in a few weeks. I’m 5ft 8, size 12-14, good legs (although appreciate may have to put them away!) and mediocre tummy. Suit autumn colours, am in my mid 40s. Budget around £300 for a dress. Shops seem to mainly have lots of light colours, florals etc for wedding guests, but maybe looking in the wrong places.

It’s very hard to buy black tie type dresses in store, they are either aimed at the prom market or bridal. Online is your friend.

my two newer evening dresses are from ever-pretty and my other one is pepperberry (bravissimo). Monsoon is a possible on the high street, phase 8, next perhaps though the websites are a better option for choice.

They've got pretty good filters to narrow it down, there are quite a few on there for under your budget, although I'm not sure what style you're after and the autumn colours aspect does narrow it down.

Might this work? You should be able to get something that hangs well in a decent fabric, that you'll feel good in that's discounted.
