Argh! Sticky label residue on new swimsuit!

Exactly this - incredibly sticky residue covering crotch of new swimming costume. How do I get this off, please (would rather not have to wash whole thing if at all possible!).

The internet suggests coconut oil, left on as long as as possible, will then allow you to scrape it off! With olive oil a close second.
