Waxing for many years - any option for permanent hair removal?

I've been getting my legs and bikini line waxed consistently for about 20 years. My regrowth is pretty light and patchy now but I'm getting fed up going to get waxed every 6 weeks or so.

I have a Philips Lumea which I've used on my underarms (only ever shaved there, no waxing) and I'm not blown away by the results. I'm wondering what my options would be for permanent hair removal after such long term waxing. Any advice? Ta

I waxed legs for 30yrs and it took about 18 months for my Lumea to do the job. It's worth giving it a go.

I came to say Philips Lumea is brilliant. I have medium brown skin and black hair. I used it on my legs for about 6months every other week and I haven't had any regrowth for the last 7 years

Laser was a game changer for me. I used to be very hairy and 10 years later I still don’t need to shave at all.

It does depend on what machine you use. First time round I used Soprano and had very little difference. Second time round it was ND YAG and as I saw, results have been phenomenal. If I recall, you have to find one with the right frequency for your skin tone.

My underarm hair has been far more resistant to my Philip Lumea than my legs. They have been totally transformed, summer is so much easier without the inevitable 5 o’clock shadow I used to get when shaving.

Lumea fans, do you have the same history of long term waxing that I do?

I had been waxing my legs for about 20 years every 4-5 weeks as I was very hairy and it was quite thick hair, and much darker than my skin colour.
Ice also done my arms a few times sporadically, so the hair is a lot thinner now, but I'm planning to give it a proper go in April before my arms get super tanned again

I had several laser hair removal sessions years ago (pre kids, probably about 15 years ago). It was a full course of sessions but I can't remember how many. Bikini line and underarms. Never waxed, always shaved prior to treatment.

Sessions definitely had an impact, i have a lot of underarm haid and it reduced it a lot, but never went away completely. I never had maintenance sessions, and now, both underarm and bikini are no different to how it was before the laser treatment.
