Laura Geller baked balance where am I going wrong?

I rarely wear makeup but having read lots of positive comments, I bought some Laura Geller baked balance and brighten foundation and and the kabuki brush. But I don’t see any difference at all when I apply it. Anyone any idea if I’m doing something wrong? It just doesn’t seem to do a thing.

On first use and quite frequently you need to scrape it with something sharp like a pin or your nail to free up the powder. I have to do this every few days..it's crazy that they don't make this known when buying it!.I think I read it on their facebook comments - they replied saying this when somebody complained. There must be so many people using it thinking nothing is happening.

If you don’t fully extend the brush, it’s not as soft so breaks down the powder better and gives better coverage. Sometimes a bit too much coverage!

Thank you! Scraping it seems to have worked.

Sorry this is a stupid question but how “clear” does the brush need to be each time? I’ve also got blusher. I noticed actually a LOT of powder within the brush. You can tell I’m new to this (despite not being young!) I don’t want to blush my whole face 😆

I am afraid you went wrong by buying it in the first place.

Oh no☹️. Too late now! Many people do seem to love it though, including a couple of my friends which is why I looked at it.

I have to stick it down with lots of moisturiser. I do love it though. And yes the scraping

I use a make up sponge to apply mine and it goes on beautifully, lasts all day too

Do you have it? I think it's really good.

Please can you explain scraping? I almost threw mine as it did nothing....

Debz100 · 27/03/2026 12:43

I find using a primer makes it 'grip' and last much longer.

lindyloo57 · 27/03/2026 13:42

I've never had to scrape mine, go on youtube there are many people showing how to use it,

If you put your nail on the powder and dig it around it breaks it up and loosens it. Or use a pin. Otherwise nothing transfers to the brush.

I used it, it was good but very subtle. I stopped because I wanted a less powdery finish.

I used the brush with very little extension so it was harder, and also tapped it in to my skin
