What shoes and socks work best with cropped trousers?

I have a few pairs of cropped, straight-leg/cigarette trousers and was wondering, in this age of the long sock, what people are wearing on their feet with them!?

Obvious choice would be loafers and no socks I suppose, but I am mostly in trainers as I work from home and am just in and out for the nursery run/Tesco etc and the longer sock look just doesn't look good with this type of trouser? Or tbh with my trainers, which are Adidas Gazelles, which seem to go much better with the good old sport sock.

What shoe/sock combo would you wear with these?

I wear a normal not sporty sock with my loafers but admittedly my trousers are short but not cropped. Are you worried they're not long enough?
Is it too early for cropped trousers maybe? I bloody love cigarette trousers a la Audrey Hepburn. I'm 5'10 so they don't have quite the same gamine effect

It's not that I'm worried the trousers aren't long enough, but more that I have always worn them with low trainers and trainer socks really and I know most people don't really wear those anymore nowadays🙈They're not massively cropped, they're below mid-shin.

Sometimes I do wear converse with them and then it's not an issue - I guess I am more just wondering if everyone is still wearing long socks when only a little bit of the leg is showing? Or would people just avoid trainers in this scenario?

I’ve worn cropped trousers for many years and have never worn socks no matter what footwear I have on. I wear them all year round.

I could never wear trainers with no socks 🙈Maybe that's the problem!

Team good old sport sock!

I wear cropped trousers a lot in the summer, either with trainers and trainer socks (barely ankle high) or flip-flop type sandals - either toe post or a band over the front (and varnished toenails!)

I like a fisherman sandal (no socks)

I have to wear the dreaded no-show trainer socks with my narrow cropped trousers. I can’t got without any sock and it looks stupid if they stick up above the shoe.

BTW Audrey Hepburn was 5’ 7 so not as teeny as we might imagine. Teeny size of course, but fairly tall among stars of her era.

I wear normal socks with my Adidas SL72s and trousers. Not a fan of trainers socks.
Long Nike socks with my gym trainers but I wouldn't wear chunky trainers with trousers, only wide jeans or leggings

If it's cold enough to be needing socks and trainers, then it probably isn't warm enough to be wearing cropped trousers is my reply.
I would wear trousers like that with open sandals and no socks.

I do have a pair of cropped gym ones (I wear to the gym) and those I wear with the sort of trainer socks that just peep out the top of my trainers.

I think this depends on your style. Loafers and socks would work like this? I don't wear trainer socks at the moment as it's hard to look current in them. If you mainly wear trainers and they don't work with the trousers, maybe it's the trousers you need to review?
